KETO BACON & AVOCADO BREAKFAST BURRITO Ingredients: 4 eggs 2 T unsweetened almond milk 4 strips cooked pasture-raised bacon, chopped 1 medium tomato, diced Fresh greens of choice (spinach, cilantro, basil) 1/2 avocado, sliced Instructions: Whisk together the eggs and almond milk in a mixing bowl. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Pour half of the mixture into the pan to coat the bottom thinly. Cover and cook for 3 minutes. Use a spatula to transfer to a plate. 👴👵 Older Adults May Need More Protein - After the age of about 50, most people begin to experience the loss of muscle mass—losses that range, on average, between 0.5% and 2% of total muscle mass per year. - Part of the reason older adults lose this muscle is that they tend to become less active. Even when they do exercise, they may not exercise as hard as they did when they were younger. Since muscles are being used less, and with less intensity, it makes sense that some loss would occur. At the same time, the body’s ability to build muscle also slows down a bit as we age. - The good news is that a combination of resistance exercise and adequate dietary protein can help to minimize this loss. The body needs protein to manufacture muscle, and exercise increases the body’s efficiency in building muscle. I didn’t have an extra mirror so I used my phone📱on selfie mode to look at the back of my hair. 😂 I love getting dolled up and dressed up on special occasions. 💃🏻💄💋 . We all deserve to look and feel beautiful even if we may not think we are. Beauty is not defined by perfection. We’re not beautiful based only on physical attributes. Tortillas — both corn and wheat — are not keto-friendly for two reasons. First, they are made up almost entirely of carbohydrates. 🍍"How can I help my friends or loved ones lose weight?" - 🍍I don't know. - 🍍Yeah that’s my current honest answer. - 🍍I'm all about being completely honest and authentic with you here, and at this point in time I really haven't got a clue. It's something that's been clawing at me for the longest time as well. - 🍍I mean, I thought I unlocked some secret right? I was 123kg, at my lowest I hit 72kg, whatever I did it worked! And I couldn't be more excited to share it with all those around me. But apparently it doesn't work that way. So many more factors, so many more variables. I've been asked countless times over the past years. - 🍍"How did you lose weight?" - 🍍Previously I'd always answer, "count calories, you gotta count calories." And I'd feel a little be proud as if I learned some crazy secret and I was giving it away for free. Little did I realize that answer sucks, and really doesn't help at all. - 🍍Realizing that, I kinda went in circles. I've never been a coach. I know all my nutritional info, but I knew nothing about helping or coaching. I defaulted into this state where I told myself, "Alright I have no clue how to help those around me so I guess the only thing I can do is to make the best, greatest version of myself to hopefully affect my surroundings and learn in the process." - 🍍Kinda naive. Kinda dreamy. But it was the only solution I had. - 🍍So the answer right now is still I don't know, oh but I do know one thing though... - 🍍Weight loss is this weird thing where, unless the person decides they want it. Oh no, that was a long time ago.🤣 ▪ ▪ 🍀I grew up on a cattle property in very steep mountain country in the Macleay Valley, Mid North Coast, NSW and so I have a deep connection with the bush and nature. 5 things you may not know about me: 👉1️⃣ I am first generation American... mom born and raised in Guatemala, of Spanish and German descent... and dad born and raised in Sweden (100% Swedish). 👉2️⃣ Spanish was my first language... bilingual upbringing. 👉3️⃣ I never wanted to scuba dive... 🦈today I'm an avid scuba diver who has over 150 hours of scuba diving recorded to include some of the best and most exotic diving places in all the world. I've dove with sharks, manta rays, jellyfish, octopus, stingrays, and so much more! 👉4️⃣ ❤️I dated my husband for 5 weeks, weekends only (we lived three hours apart), when he asked me to move in with him... I did not eat very well this afternoon. I overslept (not surprising) and forgot my lunch bag flying out the door. I didn’t have breakfast, had one cup of coffee then went to lunch with friends and ate horrible (but delicious) food 😕 . . The reason why I’m “confessing” this is because I, in no way, want to give the false impression that I’m kicking ass with my ~healthy lifestyle~ in particular, my relationship with food. It’s a struggle and I struggle to say “no” every day. . . But I’m not beating myself up over it because focusing on those “failures” led to me to where I am now. I’m learning that one bad meal/snack doesn’t mean I lost the day. I can do better by eating well and exercising the same day, the next day, and the day after. It’s about staying true to myself but also STAYING COMMITTED and strong 💪🏽 . . So I’m determined to be brutally honest with myself and with you guys by showing all the good things I eat and the bad things too. No false narratives over here 🙅🏽‍♀️ . .
