Throwing it back to my husband and our daughter playing in the sweet sunshine — I’m really missing summer right about now. 🌞
The sunlight will dance across your skin & you'll learn to love yourself again.
It's something I harp on a lot when talking about photography, especially photographing people. An important part of my job as a photographer is letting my clients know that they can trust me, that they can count on me.
Without that genuine trust, it is near impossible for me to properly capture authenticity, which is one of my leading inspirations and goals as a photographer.
It's amazing and really makes my creative heart soar when my clients evidently are trusting me and being vulnerable in the moment. Believe me, I know it's not easy; I've been on the other side of the camera. It's scary!
The trust placed in any given photographer literally spills out of each and every single photograph! This can also work in a negative light. When I view photographs, I can also see when people were not comfortable or trusting what the photographer was doing. It makes me quite sad.
Moral of the story, don't underestimate the importance of trust and the roles each one of us play in that process. <3 //
I wanted to try something with challenging light and I found this. It was a really nice exercise, because you learn so much about light and shadow on the human face.
I also feel like I finally get the hang of digital drawing ✍️ I don’t have to think about every move anymore and the brushes are more familiar to me.
I‘m also really happy that I decided to start with black and white images. Therefore it was not utterly overwhelming, only a little 😉

It’s hard not to feel crazy doing this sometimes. Example, this was taken while my loving wife patiently waited in the car after I excitedly pulled off the road to get on the ground and take a picture of a fence.
Nothing special really, Some backyard photography when the sun was going down. Trying to catch the last bit of light (2013)
This shot on Casuarina Beach is one of 20 chosen by the iPhone Photography School from 690 entries in the ‘Harsh Light’ Competition. Having photos selected like this makes me work harder to learn more and take better shots.

Lookin’ back at warmer days. Literally been dreaming of summer 💀
Some things can only be learned through experience.
Life’s a ... You already know.
If you ever find yourself on Hwy 49 just as you hit Hwy 108, look to your right. Can't miss it.
I want to fall in love with myself in 2019
