🌸 μετάνοια 🌸
This is a greek word that I once found and got curious about, when I searched for its translation I got caught with all what it’s said..
In one hand there is the etymology of the word, compound by μετά that means “after” and νοέω “to perceive, to think” which give us a kind of “after-thinking” and signifies “change of mind”: thinking one way, but then afterwards thinking another.
In my research, I also found that the word appears in the bible and that it was translated as “repentance” then again, this translation is very vague and needs to be explained.
What I found, understand and got me so caught about the meaning of metanoia is that it represents the conscious decision to turn around and face a new direction, turning from the shadow into the light. It represents the transformation made from your inner, acknowledging your mistakes and misconduct and decide to amend it. The word in fact implies the repentance but not as a martyr suffering for what you’ve done to you and others, but as a lever to begin with this transformation.
What I like the most is that it refers to something spiritual, of course when you change from within (your heart, your mind) you’ll start seeing yourself encouraged to take action and make that transformation visible and tangible in your environment and for those who surround you.
This word inspires me so much and I think that no matter what, it is never to late to correct your way but better now than later.
Here I leave the most common translation of the word:
A profound, usually spiritual, transformation; conversion. The process or journey of changing one’s mind, heart, self or way of life.
And once again... Trust the universe, in God, in the energy around and inside you, everything will be ok, whatever it is, just trust. 🖤🔮✨ #stitchesforthesoul #metanoia #greek #greekwords #embroidery #typeletter #handstitched #handembroidery #letterstitch #backstitch #lovequotes #love #transformation #newbeginnings #path #journey #inspirationalquotes #typewriter
