They are only gonna make us better. The thing we must grasp first is simply the fact that we are alive. That is worth everything. Life itself.. it is a gift! And we as humans tend to take it for granted. If we can be grateful for the intangible things in life, then our roads to success will be smoother. There is joy in everything we do, we just have to look through another set of lens to see it. We can either wake up and be angry for why we have to go to work, study, or attend seminars. Or we can wake up and be grateful for what we do and understand that it will only make us better day by day. Remember that you only have one life. Give it all you’ve got and squeeze the shit out of it ✊👊 💪

As a former “professional" self-abandoner I used to be notorious for placing the responsibility of my needs onto others. I didn’t even know what my needs were and that was terrifying and mortifying to admit, and so I would self-abandon and seek externally through my relationships the connection I was missing with myself. It wasn’t until some real big life shakeups that I was brought to this path of self-love, and it’s why my handle here is @radicalselflove because the ROOT of powerful love and connections with others is directly correlated to the health of connection you have with yourself, your internal world, your emotions and your needs. People are so effing afraid of being needy, that they don’t take the time to honor the needs they have (which ironically is what actually ensures they become the thing they’re most afraid of aka the emotionally repressed, volatile and needy human). You are a human. You have needs. Period. But if you refuse to take your needs seriously why should anyone else? If you refuse to get into you own experience and expand your language to speak about your needs, why would anyone else invest in doing that? The more we build up a regular self-needs checkin and then get to work fulfilling on those needs daily, we begin to shift how we relate to ourselves. And when that inner transformation happens ALL of our relationships have the space to be nourished, enhanced and upleveled. So regardless if you’re single or in a relationship this work matters. Stop selling yourself and your heart short of what you need. Be brave. Be bold. Lean in. Learn you. Awareness and Acceptance >< When it comes to change having a desire to do so is great, but… >< You must be aware of WHAT needs to change and you must be willing to accept HOW to change it. >< Once you have these two things in place, the change you want to make is gravy. Well, almost… It might still be hard and uncomfortable but you’ve gotten over two huge hurdles right off the bat. >< When it comes to drinking and changing your behaviors around drinking these two things are especially huge. >< The fact is that your life may appear to be or even feel in control so being aware that there is a drinking problem might be hard.  You have to look really deeply. Things like how do you “think” about alcohol? How do you “feel” when you are or after drinking? How does drinking affect your relationships? Does it dominate your free time? >< Now for acceptance. This plays off the things in the previous paragraph too. Can you accept that alcohol is a problem for you?  As yourself the same questions as above. Oh hai internets, it’s been a minute. . It wasn’t an intentional social media break, but I’ve been here less lately. And it’s been interesting. . I’ve been obsessed with the internets since our first family dial-up modem and mac classic in the mid-90s (#nerdalert #oldladyalert )...and I’ve rarely taken a break since (save for a few silent meditation retreats over the years, more on that another day.) . But lately I’ve been noticing it’s more of an addiction than an obsession. My fingers twitch for a fix and before I’ve even consciously thought about it, my phone is open and I’m checking my “favourite” apps. Like, 1000% pure unconscious body-programmed autopilot distraction and notification seeking action. Looking up 15 minutes later like “...what did I come here for, I don’t think these last 4 puppy videos were it??” . Hashtag Y I K E S 😬 . I’ve been meditating A LOT lately too (like, 2-3hrs a day a lot), and the more I do the less I can give myself a free pass on the shit that doesn’t work and how messed up it is. . In case you didn’t know, social media apps are literally designed to be as addictive as possible - endless scroll, tiny doled-out dopamine hits to keep you coming back for the satisfaction of more notifications. . Sure, we use it for a lot of good and fun - but make no mistake, it’s all designed to keep your eyeballs here for the sake of advertising 🤑 . And make no further mistake - the scrolling and coming back for more and desiring of notifications literally changes and trains your brain to be increasingly less satisfied and happy, always wanting more, and more, and more (of anything, everything, that could bring pleasure or joy, not just the internets.) The effects run disturbingly deep. . So anyway 🤪 That’s what I’ve been thinking about this week. And I guess it’s an invitation to examine how you relate to things like social media, your phone, other forms of distractions...and probably advertising, marketing and capitalism, too 😜 . But that’s a lot. So if you’re a (recovering) compulsive-phone-checker like me...maybe just see what would happen if you didn’t do that the next time you feel the urge. Our brains probably deserve more from us ❤️

People ask me all the time how to get motivated, or how to keep it going after that first couple of weeks and the truth is, that you are not always going to be motivated. But I love what I heard in a podcast not that long ago- they said that successful people aren’t defined by the things that they do when they are UP - its what they do when they are DOWN that makes all the difference. Its easy to crush goals, eat good, work our tails off when we are motivated, and happy and things are going good in life. But its what we do when things are rough, or when we are down emotionally, or when life has just thrown us an extra bushel of lemons. Its the way that we are able to continue on during that time of our lives that will bring you closer to success. And how do you stay up during those rough waters? By having a solid foundation, by having good habits in place that you are able to stay standing on. And this goes for every single area of our lives. Finances, health, fitness, faith, work, parenting, marriage, literally everything that we do, needs a good base for us to fall back on when times get hard.” . . Most kids will have sleep associations and that's normal. It's when they become unhealthy that we need to start reversing them. My oldest LOVES her binky and her cookie monster costume and they help her sleep so I'm okay with them. However, when she was an infant I had to repeatedly get up and put it back in her mouth. Autumn cleanse to keep up with changes. ~ Today I finished an 11 day cleanse called "the green diet". It's a very simple mono-diet where you only eat naturally green food. When my colleagues heard about it, the first thing they said was: but you don't need a diet! And I realized that I completely forgot that "being on a diet" for most people has to do with weight loss and/or beauty standards. For me it has grown to mean something entirely different: it's a way of supporting my body, getting to know myself better, exploring the relation between my habits/ego mind and my deeper self/spiritual being. Having a history of what's called eating disorders, and being what I now call a "recovering sugar addict", I'm aware that I still sometimes abuse food to bottle up negative emotions. Even though I'm eating healthier than ever before in my life and have already healed so much around this. Something like a green diet is a soft, gentle and powerful support on this healing journey. That's why I do it. It doesn't have anything to do with limiting or restricting myself. Ultimately it's a practice of self love. Mono-diets are a great boost for the metabolism as they give the digestive and organ system a break while keeping the metabolism (and your digestive fire -agni) going. You detox and reset your system. The green diet is simple, alkalizing (combat stress!), nourishing and yes: depending on your regular diet you might lose weight, it certainly makes your skin brighter, and it fills you up with light energy (all that chlorophyll!). So I guess it's about beauty after all. Usually I do it in the spring, but actually it's great at autumn detox, with comforting kale, cabbage, mung beans and green lentils. And fresh autumn apples. After 11 days I feel like this feather - ready to fly with the changes of this season, alive and energized, and light in my being. I am putting my foot down hard this time when it comes to taking care of myself. I have strayed from making sure I am doing all that I can to better myself, take care of myself, and work on myself. I have okay habits, but not good enough. I use to be in such good shape. I use to have the most positive mindset. I use to not let the stress of life get to me! So, I have come up with a "CHEAP" list of what I want to work on to benefit myself, which in turn, will benefit my family.
