SOUND ON 🚨 According to a study by the South Harmon Institute of Technology, there is a direct correlation between the amount of noise you make while lifting and muscle growth. Look it up, it’s science...😂🤣😭 But on a serious note, let’s talk about training chest since that’s what 99% of you hit yesterday. Cable fly variations are my favorite exercises to stimulate chest growth. Now, what I’m about to say mostly pertains to training for aesthetics, so if that’s not your goal then ignore it. But most people starting out, understandably become slaves to bench press. You don’t have to do that. Personally, I wouldn’t. I haven’t incorporated flat bench press into my routine in probably 2-3 years now. It’s a great exercise to build strength, but does not do as much as some other exercises to stimulate growth. A lot of people out there also say it puts unnecessary strain on your shoulders, but we are all built differently. Muscle growth comes from pumping as much blood into the muscle as possible, and getting good contraction in the muscle, which the barbell can hinder your ability to do so. If you are going to flat bench, I recommend using dumbbells, but incline press and flyes are really where it’s at from my experience. Developing the upper pecs with incline will give you that full look that you’re looking for, the “man cleavage” if you will 😂 and then hitting flyes from all different angles to finish off a chest workout will stimulate growth and give you a sick pump!
And don’t forget, diet is the most important thing. You can do flyes and presses till you’re blue in the face, but if your diet is shit you’re going to look like shit. Simple as that. And find what works for you. If you love to bench and it makes you feel good to be able to say you bench 315 when strangers ask you on the street, then bench all day. I’m just sharing my experience and what has worked for me.
