It’s not all 🌈 & 🦄 around here. Even though I ❤️ lifting, (especially my 🌟 programming from @teamgpt ) and I’m so grateful every day that I get to train, every session isn’t perfect 👌 #realtalk . . This week I turned what would have been a very successful #deadlift session into my own personal 💩 show. Or, a perfect time to learn from my mistakes... . . My programming was for 6 singles at 95kg, working up (by 5kg a set) if it felt good. Last time I had deadlift singles I hit a PR of 116, so this week I thought for sure I could 117.5 with more rest & better nutrition. Nope 👎 . . 115 went up easier than the last time, so I pushed for 117.5, failed, tried again, failed, tried 117, failed (all of these I let drop super quickly because I was *not supposed to miss lifts*), and then I had exhausted myself so much that I couldn’t pull 115 for my last single (even though I had just done it a few minutes before) and had to settle for a grindy 110, which is a usually relatively smooth lift for me. . . So many lessons learned here: . 💡 I don’t have to PR every heavy day. Hello, ego. ✅ it. . 💡 Follow my programming. I would have felt so much better having hit two singles at 115 than the drama that I went through between my successful 5th and 6th singles that day. 🤦🏻‍♀️ . 💡 I need to get my setup more consistent. I had no idea the bar was so lopsided in some of those attempts until hours later. I think I was too annoyed at myself at the time to notice even when I watched the video during the session. . 💡 Stop pushing when it gets this hard. Killing myself for one single is just going to tire me out even more for the following training days. Ego, you👂me?! . . So so so grateful for such amazing programming and advice from my coach @teamgpt 👏👏👏 I am so glad I don’t have to figure this shit out on my own anymore. This is my 7th meet since I've started powerlifting 3 years ago. I've done water cuts for every single one of them, including this one. If you've seen me in person the week leading up to any of them, you've probably seen me toting a gallon, and heard me complaining about how much I have to pee. I'd like to think I've gotten pretty good at water cuts (bc the ability to severely dehydrate your body is an essential skill, right?) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is my 7th meet, and by far the one I'm the least prepared for, and the least excited for. I signed up for this meet solely because I *might* have the chance to win money, and I had enough money in my @pittpowerlifting team account to pay for registration. I signed up because of my stupid bigass ego. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Prep went shitty. I fucked up on this water cut. I lost my passion for the sport. But IT'S OKAY. Not everything has to be perfect. I'm just trying to be the best I can be Right Now with the circumstances I've been given. I'm not trying to push myself past breaking, especially for a meet that's supposed to be FUN. So that means not doing rounds in the sauna, even though I'm over weight. That means lowering my attempts to try to go 9/9 for the first time ever rather than try to set PRs or records. That means having fun with my friends and family at the meet instead of being pouty and moody if (when) things don't go perfectly. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ultimately, this is a recreational sport that I'm doing for fun. I'm never going to be "elite" in it. I'd say right now I'm definitely a big fish in a little pond, and I've let that inflate my ego and set my expectations a little too high. Sure, it's cool to do well in meets and be seen as strong or whatever. But if I lose my reason for doing it in the first place, if I lose sight of my passion, if it's no longer fun, then what's the fucking point? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Powerlifting is hard on the body. Water cuts are fucking hard on the body. Meets are fun as hell, but they can also be very stressful and anxiety-inducing. There has to be enough excitement and drive to overcome *all* of the bullshit, at least for me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (continued in comments bc apparently I write too much for ig to handle🙃)

They are on fire today, but got back up and burned 400 calories. Later will be chest 💪 (If you are wondering why I'm including so much cardio in my prep this time, there's a few reasons for that. I'm competing in the 57kg weight class and I have 5 pounds to drop in the next three months. I feel like my gainz have been more noticeable this year because I’m paying more attention to form, listening to how my body feels in training, and not letting the weights mentally defeat me. Ended this micro cycle with a 360lb tempo triple 🙌🙌🙌 That’s a 15lb PR from last week and 30lb PR in 3 weeks! My best squat last year was a 270 single, so 360 for a triple is amazing ❤️Feeling strong af and ready to start prep!!! Still in a deficit and down 10.5 lbs and lots of inches! I’m amazed at how strong I feel these days and how well my body is adapting! Well I figured I’d show you guys what supplements I use. Nothing really too crazy. I really try to get the majority of my nutritional needs from actual food. . . Supplements are tricky because of the huge lack of regulation. There are times where you can’t really be sure if the supplements are working or if it’s placebo. That being said I am a believer of the placebo affect. Lately I haven’t been feeling myself and have needed more motivation than usual. 🌹 I started powerlifting in July 2016 just for fun and to get me to be active again. I was also a runner because it was something I’ve never done before and I wanted to push my limits. After running one of my last races in August 2017 I decided to fully commit to powerlifting because all I want was to get stronger. 🌹 Since then I have competed 3 times. First meet was with a back injury. Second was a yolo meet with a week prep. Third was when I got my qualifying total. 🌹 Now I’m training to compete at nationals. Freaking nationals...
