So I am strongly in favor of the second amendment. But on a truly serious note, where does it end? I'm convinced that our founding fathers would have been fine with ARs and automatic weapons in general. But aside from all the memes about ancaps, what about a nuke? I believe our founding fathers or any reasonable person would not support this. I cannot see how private ownership of nuclear weapons can in any way be appropriate. With this comes the issue of limiting the second amendment. How can one propose a limitation against a weapon under the reasoning of "it is safer for society" but prevent government from ever extending that reasoning further? All input is welcome, as I cannot seem to find an appropriate answer by myself.
Edit: whoops almost forgot, taxed from @renver_ball
