War Part I: The mission of Combat Camera is to provide the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), the Military Departments (MILDEPs), the combatant commands, and the joint task forces (JTFs) with a directed imagery capability in support of operational and planning requirements during wartime operations, worldwide crises, contingencies, and joint exercises.

August 7, 2006: Soldiers from Bravo Company, 2-6 Infantry, Task Force 1-35 Armored Division, Baumholder, GE leave an Iraqi family's home after questioning them and filling out a census in Tameem, Ramadi, Iraq. The census is geared to finding out general information on the Iraqi household and to see if they have any concerns or questions they can help with.
Gunner SPC David Johnson and Assistant Gunner SGT Justin Javar from HHC 1/17th Battalion Mortars 172nd SBCT Ft. Wainwright, AK fire illumination flares over the city of Mosul, Iraq with a 120mm Mortar Cannon June 1, 2006 from a Mortar Carrier Stryker (an eight wheeled medium armored weapons combat troop transport vehicle). The illumination flares being fired will brighten the city in hopes it will help deny the terrorist terrain so they are less likely to place IED's.
Laying on a gurney, an injured local Iraqi with a head wound is stabilized by soldiers from the 47th Combat Support Hospital, Ft Lewis WA and will be prepped for transport to Balad AB July 7, 2006 at the hospital on FOB Diamondback, Mosul, Iraq. The injured received various wounds from a car bomb that struck the Husseinia Kurdish Shia Mosque in Tal Banat, Iraq. Initial reports state nine local nationals’ dead and 47 wounded. Nine of the wounded were treated at the Combat Support Hospital on FOB Diamondback.
