Almost every evening around the same time I used to hear a familiar voice calling "Badam bhaja" punctured with a ringing bell .... I would run to the main gate of my grandmas home with a shiny five rupee coin and extend my hand out. An old fragile, wrinkled hand would hand me over a decent amount of shelled badam still warm out of the kadhai. I would run back to my grandma who would sit on an old cane chair on the varendah overlooking a huge tamarind tree. There would be endless conversations and stories between cracking of the shells and popping them in.
It was a routine thing.
Things changed and how !! Big Basket delivers my badam/ peanuts. I roast it with the least interest .... it's a monotonous job after all. And then I google about the nutrition and how much to eat in a day before I snack on it.
Fun fact: for some reason once upon a time a long time ago, I did all my tricks exclusively to the left. I could do my first backmobes before my body understood that it was capable of doing even as much as a raley on the right tack (one of the first ones pictured above ☝🏼). Yeah, I’m just weird like that 👽 🤷🏼♀️ Sure, it probably slowed me down quite a bit, and now I have a couple of tricks that I can only do switch for that reason, and some i still can’t do at all, but it did come together eventually. I guess that’s why it’s called freestyle, everyone does it their own way and that’s what makes it so rad. Cheers to all my lefties 🙋🏼♀️🙃 #throwbackwednesday#funfact#leftie#raley#kiteboarding#kookdays#kitegirl#barranova#kitesurfing#kite#kiteboardingbrazil#goodolddays
