When I read the stories of prophets, I sometimes sigh in just pure jealousy, the good kind.
This is a promise of Allah upon Yahya (John the Baptist), son of Zachariah. His conception was a miracle as both his parents were very old and his mother had been barren all her life. But his father prayed for him, and even when God told him He would grant him a son, he was like howwwwww??? But God said ‘So it will be, and that is easy for ME........’ Yahya was promised goodness from birth till resurrection because he was devout and pure, and he treated his parents with remarkable love and kindness.
And this leads me to the purpose of my post. Many of us want the dividends but we do not want to put in the work.
I CRAVE the type of blessings Yahya had, but am I putting in as much ‘work’?. Today I will read the story of Yahya again and meditate upon it.
God blesses as He sees fit, in ways that do not always make sense to our limited minds, but He’s also a just God who will reward every single effort for His sake, no matter how tiny. And we are no longer in the days long gone, where angels will bring glad tidings directly from God. So all we can do is strive and do our best, and do it ONLY for God.
As for me, I want to die and hear the angels say ‘Oh Sam, don’t you know??, Allah has declared peace upon you the day you were born, today that you died and on the day when He will raise everyone again’.
