I'm thrilled to announce that my final for my glass blowing is finished!! I'm very happy with how this turned out, because it was such a long and difficult process. For those of you who don't recognize him, this is #DuncanGuifi
! And he is made entirely of glass with acrylic paint on his horns and his markings.
The process: if you guys keep swiping, you can see the process! He began as a wax sculpture, which I cast in a plaster/silica mixture (his mold was 80 pounds oof) and then I used a steamer to melt all the wax out before we moved him to the kiln and filled the mold with glass bits. He stayed in the kiln for about 10 days before I broke him free and coldworked any issues I had. Finally I painted him which.. was a difficult process. I originally painted him all over but I didn't like it so I took it all off again and just kept the horns and markings bc I thought it was cool!! If you guys have any questions at all please let me know!!
First four pictures were taken by @jaccidelaney
