Today’s leg day was a KILLER. I don’t often do the amount of volume I did today and I now know why. 😅 I haven’t been as motivated as normal to get to the gym but those are the times I just fight it and force myself to get there because I almost always have the best workouts. I’ll definitely be feeling this one for a few days 🙈

Many times along my journey with healthy living/fitness I've come across the comments "Ugh eating healthy is soooo expensive. I just cant afford to eat like that." "You can afford to eat like that because you don't have a family to feed."
Guys, here's a hard truth. Those are EXCUSES! The protein pictured above is wild caught shrimp, no-hormone/antibiotic chicken, and a roast that cost me $44.90. Yep. $44.90! There is a little over 14 pounds here. For those that are math oriented: I usually eat 6 oz in a serving. So 14 lbs divided into 6 oz portions = 38 servings. At 2 servings a day = 19 days. $44.90 will feed me for 19 days! A family of 4 can eat on this for 9 days. Nowadays we spend $45 on things we dont even think about...a pair of shoes, a nice pair of jeans, a purse, even a night out at the movie theater or restaurant. It takes a little footwork to figure out the sales at the local grocery store and plan meals around it, but it has been so worth it these last few weeks I've implemented it into my weekly meal planning.
So, before a "yeah, but..." escapes your lips, think about it. Are you making excuses for why you arent where you want to be? Just remember. If it's important to you, there is always a way. If not, there's always an excuse. 👊
OKAY boring ruby rambling time.
So yesterday felt like ass haha. I was sleep deprived on top of my usual trying to be an octopus and handle 8 things with 8 arms when in reality i have 2 lol. It happens every day so its a matter of accepting it and working with it. Meaning sleep is important.
I still felt hit half way through the session but my DB shoulder press and DB floor press felt SOOOO MUCH STRONGER than the first week on this training phase 3 weeks ago. .
I upped my shoulder press by 2.5kg and had an extra set.
And i hit all 10 of my reps WITH AN EXTRA SET for db floor press when on the first week... i got 10 then 9 then 8. .
HAPPY MONDAY 😄 it’s rainy and cold here, which is making me happy to curl up on the couch after a hot bowl of chili and watch some Netflix... the usual night routine for me. 👵🏻 I found a new show on Netflix call Manic and it looks crazy, so of course I had to check it out!

today and it hit me HARD. For the past few months, I’ve been extremely stressed, always running around trying to get things done on time or killing myself to get it in before the deadline. I cried the other day at work because I’m just so stressed and tired. I don’t even enjoy my day to day life anymore, but I’m going to try to slow things down and focus on the present and taking things one step at a time. ☀️👌🏻
Some random updates:
▫️Today I got word that my graduate/Masters research report has been approved to be published in the scientific journal Mycopathologica. Doing that research and writing that report made me cry many times lmao. It's nice to see my work pay off.
▫️I'm running a 12 week personal development/goal-getting challenge that starts October 1st! So if you would like to join the link is in my bio!
▫️I'm starting a new business/side-hustle this week and I got my first client and I'm pretty excited. My client also happens to be a pretty big blogger and this may open more doors for me 🙏
▫️I squatted 185 today! I failed the first one but unloaded and reloaded and told myself you have to do it and I did it 🙆♀️ I've squatted 205 before but I can't seem to get back up to it but today I felt strong!
▫️Haylee has surgery in October (teeth cleaning and small tumor removal) and Jixxer needs more shots and to be neutered so he can be adopted! Probably at least another 2 months with him.

I took about a ton of photos over the weekend of me and my girl all dressed up in fall gear because I started critiquing myself in almost every way 🤷🏻♀️
My face didn’t look right, hair was off, something was off about my legs...I was being too hard on myself.
I stopped the moment I noticed her great big smile and watched her sassy attitude come out while posing. She was having fun and thought she looked beautiful.
So I pushed all those negative thoughts out my head and enjoyed the moment with her. I started thinking of things that I worked hard to accomplish and it made my day much better.
It’s sooo easy to critique every flaw we see in ourselves but we can’t let that blind us from all the good qualities we have 😊
