🌟 O N E R E P M A X 🌟 . Today I went and tested my three main lifts for my current 1RM after a couple of weeks of weird training due to work and social life with a little bit of a stressful situation thrown in. I hit a squat PB to begin with 77.5kg, the heaviest I’ve ever attempted and it was definitely below the knee! I then moved onto bench and after realising I hadn’t trained upper body in 11 days, hit 50kg for 3 reps before nearly crushing myself and deciding not to continue without a spotter! Finally to the deadlifts and I hadn’t anticipated how work our I would be after getting that squat to begin with so I failed on my final attempt at 110 but I’d already managed 105 so I wasn’t far off. Do I need to supplement my diet? . Repost @thelifestyle_clinic • • • • • A really common question I get asked by clients is what supplements they should be taking. With a variety of foods in our diet, we can meet all of our nutritional requirements with the exception of a small amount of nutrients for certain groups - namely vegans, the elderly + pregnant women. Above is an example of the nutritional differences between consuming whole foods versus a supplement. While supplements can be a really convenient option + are necessary in certain situations, consuming the whole food source can increase the overall nutrient content of your diet. An Omega 3 supplement contains EPA + DHA while a serving of salmon contains roughly the same amount of EPA + DHA along with protein and other important nutrients. If you don’t particularly like a food such as oily fish, supplementing is a great way to bridge this nutritional gap but if you do, try aiming to consume the whole food twice a week instead 😉 Please note the Omega 3 supplement includes the approximate amount of EPA + DHA in 1 capsule where a recommended dose is 2 capsules. To som ja. Smejem sa keď som šťastná, smejem sa v stresových situáciách, zo všetkého si robím prdel a veľmi málo vecí ma vytočí. Nie vždy to tak ale bolo. Myslím, že cestovanie ma veľa naučilo a hlavne som videla ako sa žije na druhej strane sveta. Ako sú tam ľudia chudobní ale šťastní. Ako si pomáhajú a sú na seba milí bez toho aby niečo chceli naspäť. Ako si jeden druhého vážia a nebodajú sa do chrbta. Nezávidia si a bohatší pomáhajú chudobnejším. Nehádajú sa a nerobia si starosti s blbosťami. Sú pomalí, lebo sa nestresujú s prácou. Väčšina ľudí nevie povedať nie, takze keď máš nejakú prosbu tak radšej sa iba usmejú a keď sa za pár minút alebo hodín nič nedeje tak vieš, že ten úsmev znamenal, že ti nevie pomôcť. Smejú sa stále. Smejú sa na tvojich problémoch, pretože my Európania vidíme problémy všade. A to je fakt vtipné. Smejem sa na turistoch s problémami tiež. A tak si moc kamošov medzi turistami nenájdem. To mi ale nevadí. Rada sa bavím s miestnymi aj keď nehovoria po anglicky. YESTERDAYS SESSION! So I'm back in Bristol for the weekend and couldn't resist a visit to @strengthlab_bristol . . MUSHY BIT: I started training with kettle bells a few years ago now, as a trainee I'm so proud of @davidstrengthlab and his partner Nat, they go from strength to strength in their training expertise and now have their own space where I can do all the shouting I like 😂 . . . WHAT WE DID: loads of stuff! Kettle bell swings, a d goblet squats to warm up, not forgetting to mobilise! . It had been a while but 12kg was still easy, 16kg was fun, 24kg felt awesome. . Band assisted pull-ups, I loved this, I'm not great at pull ups but I was able to max my reps loads doing this (I will be investing in a band!!) . Bulgarian split squats with weight, 8reps per leg, 3 sets. . Hollow hold and press. Great for the core, particularly when @davidstrengthlab persists on trying to wobble you and you have to maintain strength. . Deadlifts. Not like with a barbell, but with "The Beast" (48kg) it still felt good. . Resistive push ups, again, able to smash high reps using this method with added resistance. . Lots of other fun was had. A informação nutricional é cortesia minha mesmo. Lowcarbers de plantão: tem menos de 7g de carbo líquido por bolinho sem a calda. Aviso aos gulosos: o pratinho é um pires e o bolinho é do tamanho de um pão de mel, ok? 😉 . . Receita (copiada do ig dela): "Ah, aviso para os carbofóbicos de plantão: se o mel te incomodar só troque por eritritol!! Ingredientes: 1 ovo 2 col sopa rasa de mel 1 col sopa cheia de cacau em pó 2 col sopa rasa de farinha de amêndoas 1 colher sopa cheia de psyllium 1 col sobremesa de fermento em pó Chocolate amargo para cobertura Modo de preparo: Misture bem todos os ingredientes, deixando por último o fermento. BRO SCIENCE MYTH: Soy Products Contain Estrogen 🙄 Its a common debate amongst... Well, bro's who don't investigate the rumours they hear in the gym with a quick Google search, that soy milk and other soy products 'are really high in estrogen'. Spoiler alert: it contains non. Let's analyse where the confusion may have occurred 👇 Soya contains phytoestrogens (plant hormones, not human hormones). Phytoestrogens in the human body are pretty weak and can actually deliver benefits, like a lowered risk of cancer, by 'blocking' actual estrogen. There is absolutely NO research supporting the notion that soya disrupts sexual development or function in humans This theory will come from your guy at your local gym, always in a vest that's neckline starts below his nipples, wears caps indoors during his every workout (don't want to get sunstroke from that weak industrial lighting), gets all of his fitness/nutrition information from the forums of Bodybuilding.com, who read the word 'estrogen' in relation to soy milk and spread it as gospel that soy milk will cause you to grow three uteruses and develop a sudden interest in Julia Roberts films. FYI: phytoestrogens (which, along with are also Isoflavones, are a powerful antioxidant) are found in other foods as well, like coffee, apples, oats, sesame seeds, flaxseed, lentils, rice, carrots, mint, ginseng, beer, and pomegranates. Even if you completely avoid eating soy (because man boobs), you’re very likely still consuming phytoestrogens - but its cool, because unless you're an actual plant, you're not going to have a phantom pregnancy 🤰 Also, if you're concerned about consuming estrogen, cows milk contains PLENTY of actual mammalian estrogen. Cows give milk while pregnant and nursing, so their estrogen levels are significantly higher. Dairy livestock are also regularly dosed with hormones to increase their growth and milk production.
