When we change our relationship with food, that is where the magic happens. Our bodies are meant to do great things, but we won’t do them so great if we aren’t eating accordingly. Try looking at food like you need it to perform your best in a training session, or get you through those long hours of class, maybe you’re a teen or have a teen playing in a high school sport. Downing a protein shake 5 minutes before the game or whatever said task is probably isn’t going to keep you fueled and feeling strong through the duration. Try not to associate food with losing weight but what it can do for you mentally and physically. my body is building lean muscle and is really craving nutritious food.
I can honestly tell you I don’t eat salads every day. Or even every other day. So, some may think in order to shed fat and build muscle you either just have to eat salads all day or just eat protein, it’s not true. Your body needs all sorts of nutrients and today my body was craving a homemade quinoa greek salad.
I piled this sucker high and dressed it with tahini and then inhaled the whole thing.
And in just a little bit I plan on grabbing myself an apple with some almond butter because today’s workout has me needing to refuel!

When I hit 50, I remember telling my husband “I may become high maintenance, I just need for you to know that!” That’s so funny to me now! I had this crazy fear that as soon as I hit 5-0, that all of life would change. I’d have to work harder to be taken seriously, I’d be overlooked, the wrinkles would take over to an extreme, my body would break down and keep me from working at the level I wanted to be at…the list was long! What I didn’t take into consideration was who I was!!! That I have the ability to dream and the power to change. And, there’s great strength in what I had already set in motion…my lifestyle, regimen, disciplines and routines that were already carved in stone in my life. //
I’ve definitely had to up my game on intentionality if I want to accomplish all I still want to do! What I’ve learned though, is that you don’t have to go into high maintenance if you’ve learned a healthy routine that allows you to sustain. And by sustain, I don’t mean turn boring! But, if you can learn the beauty of caring for all aspects of you: your heart, mind, and body - then you’re more readily able to handle life and live to the fullest. What you put into your body is critical - your spirituality, foods, mindset. How you care for you body is key - your sleep, exercise, relaxation and healing process. How you feed yourself spiritually, mentally and physically…it’s foundational for how your future will be lived out. //
I’ve become quite passionate towards women who want to be their best. You can always change for the better!! I get the most sad for those who think they’re done! That think it’s too late - no matter the age! Young women as much as older have been fed this lie that it’s too late!! Too late for what? Goodness…marriage, babies, the best career, body image, perfection, status, being seen!! We can change! You can live at your full potential. It’s not hard, it doesn’t require surgery, or lots of money, or going into protective services and starting over!! It’s changing a few habits, getting into consistent routine, having support around you who sees your potential…a little effort everyday accumulates!!! //

Used last nights leftovers to scramble up into a delicious breakfast hash: sweet potato, radishes, broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus and carrots with 2 eggs. Man was that the best idea I ever had. 💡

I like fancy breakfasts! In fact, it’s probably my favorite meal of the day and my favorite meal in a restaurant. I don’t like the time it can take to prepare said ‘fancy’ yet healthy breakfast. See, this is where my meal planning and prepping comes in handy. This cauliflower rice was the base of a dinner earlier this week. I sautéed the ground pork on Monday to be used throughout the week in breakfasts and lunches. This morning all I had to do was scramble some eggs and throw the rest of the ingredients into the skillet. Viola! Fancy Breakfast in just a few short minutes!

I’m sure Auntie Anne’s is going to look good and the Pizza Hut Robbie will likely get will be tempting...but I GOT THIS! .
