Waiting to connect at Dubai International Airport... even at night this place is full of people, coming from all over the world, crossing their lines here before departing to other places. It‘s a city in itself - with only temporary inhabitants. A huge bee hive, humming and buzzing 24 hours... in fact it‘s a mirror of our planet - only much more peaceful 😌. Wish I could stay a bit longer and get to know some of these people.........

This is a quick and easy mobility circuit that I put together to combat the effects of sedentary jobs. It's also great for long haul flights as you can perform in the galley while cabin attendants look at you like a weirdo.
1. Kettlebell Windmills
2. Deep Squat + Thoracic Rotation
3. Deep lunge.
For the windmills, I used a 14kg kettlebell though bodyweight is fine especially when starting out. The aim is to have both arms in full alignment at the bottom of each repetition forming a straight line to the sky. Benefits include: - shoulder and scapular stability especially when using weight
- glute activation
- core activation
- hamstring flexibility
(to increase groin flexibility, widen stance)
The deep squat and thoracic rotation is my favourite mobility exercise as it challenges multiple aspects simultaneously. Benefits include: - ankle mobility
- calf flexibility
- opens up hip flexors
- opens thoracic spine
(if this version is too difficult, you can sit on a small stool or otherwise stand with a wide stance)
The last exercise is a basic deep lunge working on opening up the groin and hips whilst engaging the glutes and quads.
Full routine as follows:
1. 5-10 windmills each side depending on weight
2. 5 thoracic rotations each side
3. 10 dynamic stretches followed by a 10 second hold (each leg)
Repeat the above for 3-5 times.
Functional and mobile bodies are healthy bodies. People often talk about living a long life but that pursuit is only valid provided we can make good use of our bodies. Whether we're 22 or 82, mobility should be a primary focus of our daily activities.
Been blessed with so many epic views on this trip already. Isn’t nature flipping amazing?
