I had a great day yesterday. Too tired to post last night and went right to sleep.
First, I am happy Governor Larry Hogan was re-elected. My first and only vote for Governor and my first cast for a Republican candidate. While Governor O’Malley survived the Tea Party Revolution/Bloodbath of 2010, he surfed the Blue Wave of 2018. Second, in 2014 he stated he wasn’t sure of climate change and just recently he expressed the importance of mitigating climate change. This state has some of the best research and we should utilize their expertise. Third, the Potomac Pipeline was rejected - I’m speechless, but happy! Our state is not open for sale. Four, after the Baltimore riots, he didn’t not make inflammatory remarks and instead came into the city with civility and respect. Five, through bipartisanship, he and Comptroller Peter Franchot called out fiscal recklessness and the abuse and corruption in Baltimore County, Baltimore City, and Prince George’s County - both the school system and government. I do hope more light is shined on Mayor Pugh and the City Council because their inaction is turning the city into a bloodbath from the opioid trade to the rising homicide. Six, while other GOP held states aggressively gerrymandered this last decade, our Governor believes two wrongs don’t make a right and that the Political Machine under Speaker Michael Busch and Senate President Mike Miller should not draw their districts in order to retain political relevance and power. All political parties should be barred from the redistricting process.
Plenty to work on for another four years, but I know it will be done respectfully and civilly. I enjoyed meeting Delegate Steven Arentz and Senator Mary Beth Carozza. #governorsinauguration #Maryland #MarylandPolitics #TeamHogan #HoganStrong #HoganforGovernor #FourMoreYears #Annapolis #annearundelcounty
