Chez Hagata - my favourite matcha desserts out of Uji came not from a traditional tea maker with centuries under their belt, but from a patisserie, owned by a couple, that's been around for only 20 years. This is their matcha pudding, at once bitter and sweet at an intensity and balance they strike so cleanly for all the sweets we've tried here. #latergram
I am salivating real hard at this. My last meal in Osaka, got the recommended set for around $40. Sooooo worth it, the meat was buttery soft, almost melting in my mouth. They provide jars of fresh wasabi and fried garlic on the table!

Here's another little festive baking recipe. These cheese biscuits go perfectly with a glass of prosecco! Got this from @tanyaburr
's book as well. So here's the recipe:
Makes about 15, depending on the size of your cutter.
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 12 minutes - 125 gr grated cheese (Parmesan only or a mix of Parmesan and Cheddar, if you prefer)
- 100 gr plain flour plus a bit extra for dusting
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp sweet paprika
- 100 gr cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 2 egg yolks
You will need a star shaped cookie cutter.
Preheat the oven at 200 degrees C (425 F, gas mark 7). Line . a baking sheet with baking parchment.
Put the grated cheese in a bowl. Sift over the flour, baking powder and paprika. Rub the butter into the flour and cheese with your fingertips until the mixture has a crumbly texture. You could also do this in a food processor: tip the grated cheese, dry ingredients and cubed butter into the bowl of the processor and pulse a few times until crumbly, then transfer the mixture to a bowl.
Add the egg yolks and mix with a spoon to combine and form a firm dough, then shape the dough into a ball. Dust the work surface with flour and roll out the dough to a thickness of 1 cm. Cut out the star shapes with the cookie cutter and arrange them on the lined baking sheet.
Bake the cheese stars at the top of the oven for 8-12 minutes until light golden brown, then remove from the oven and leave to cool on the sheet.
