It’s all about the details 😍😍 Here are some things to consider when remodeling a kitchen:
1: In most cases, try to keep the metals consistent (pulls on cabinets, light fixtures, faucet, chairs)
2: I am always a fan of statement light fixtures over the island or breakfast bar
3: When picking out countertop, keep it consistent with the color scheme. I often see people pick white cabinets and then go with a countertop that is an off-white & to me, it doesn’t look right!
4: Update appliances
5: Molding for the cabinets can make your kitchen look more custom
6: Close in your island so you can tuck in your chairs
7: If you’re going to spend money on Reno’s, this is the place to do it!
8: Backsplash should be used to tie the space together!
What are your favorite details to pick out in a kitchen? It is the 💙 of the home.

🙌🏼 Just because it’s installed doesn’t mean it’s done, now for the most important step - SEALANT! Because of its porous nature, it must be sealed to protect its natural beauty, design and color. Sealing helps to protect the travertine stone because travertine can absorb liquids that cause the stone to be stained permanently which will affect its design and natural beauty. #tiledesign #travertine #naturalstonetile

Another fixer upper from Marktplaats (Dutch version of Craigslist). Unbelievable cool and asymmetrical fallow deer deadhead, according to the previous owner originally from France. This old buck has virtually no molars left and had severe dental problems when it died. You can see the jawbone almost completely gone on both sides, exposing the molar roots, likely causing pain and trouble chewing food while it was still alive. It was never cleaned and had a huge chunk of mummified skin still attached, including one ear. It will be a glorious skull mount once I am done restoring it. .

I’m going to Los Angeles!!! Dylan wanted to go to LA for a long weekend at the end of the year and he asked if I wanted to tag along (his treat!) Umm...YES, PLEASE!!! 😊I haven’t had a proper vacation in ages. I’m so looking forward to returning to Cali! ❤️Beverly Hilton, here we come! Happy Monday, y’all!
Came downstairs this morning to find Jeremy sitting outside after his run.
Made us some coffee, grabbed my Bible, and we had the best start to a Monday morning ever.
Isn’t it funny how just a little change, something insignificant, can change so much!?
There's not any natural light in our microscopic laundry room unless I open the garage. But nonetheless, this room looks so much better than it did a month ago. Swipe ➡️ to see the before. I painted the cabinets and shelf, added the faux crown moulding (it's just 1x3 boards), changed the light fixture, painted the ceiling, and added some pictures of our muddy kids. There is another wall you can't see that has more pictures and hooks. Now it's not so boring in here. This was another inexpensive room update. We only had to buy 1 gallon of paint, the 1x3 boards, and light fixture. We had everything else. It doesn't have to cost a fortune to make a room look amazing. *

Loving this Scenic Hills home. It is in a great established neighborhood and ready to be someone’s cozy home!
It’s been awhile since I’ve introduced ourselves and thought I’d share a bit about us to our newest followers ❤️ I’m Danielle, past kindergarten teacher turned stay-at-home Momma to four . Landen and Caroline (6) & Parker (almost 2)& Riggs (rescue pup). Last year this time we were busy packing up the home we built in suburbia and getting ready to move to our new 1800s historic FIXER UPPER farmhouse! My husband, Aaron, is a play it safe kinda guy and I’m the dreamer who gave him a good nudge to take this crazy plunge. It was A rough start when we moved in-you know bathroom falling in, water in the kitchen, sparking appliances, and believe it or not a whole lot more. How I ever thought moving in the winter, with three kids, to a home that needs TONS of work was a good idea is beyond me....but I knew it was time to STOP talking about our dreams and START living them. It was the second best craziest decision we have ever made together (We’ve been love birds since 1998🥰) and now being almost a year later since we moved in, we are overwhelmingly happy we lost our “good sense” and moved to the country😂 We are looking forward to a new set of projects scheduled for this up coming year. We hope you’ll stick around in 2019 to see how the house is restored and to follow along in my historical search of our home and the Wehr family who built their homestead, our home, in 1827. 🏡 ❤️

Cozy vibes for today. 🎄☕️
In all honesty, I am missing my white kitchen. I thought I would really embrace my new kitchen colors but I would really rather paint my cabinets white or change them out completely. And then the battle in my mind continues… “Don’t you think that’s a waste of money?“ “Aren’t you working for a bigger goal?“… The ultimate goal in downsizing, is to eventually have an additional home somewhere in Florida so we can be Michigan snowbirds one day. Wasting money on instant gratification, doesn’t get me to my end result. So I tell myself “KEEP your EYES 👁 👁 ON THE PRIZE, Robin!!” Spend your money by changing brand new cabinets out or use it wisely toward your home by the water????? HELLO! Once I reel myself in, it’s not a hard choice. 😝. Is your mind as ADD as mine is sometimes?? HA!
Another angle // Not to withhold the beauty of our new sofas, but I took the opportunity while the room was clear to get some full shots of the space. How freaking amazing are those windows? It’s like 3 front doors. They open onto the front porch and once we add screens we’ll actually use them - because that little one is a runner just waiting to escape. When we were in full construction dust mode I may or may not have opened these and turned the shop vac around like a leaf blower. 🤦♀️ It feels so good to be on the other side of that! If anyone is reading this and crazy enough to live in a home restoration/reno, covered in sawdust while everything is in a state of disarray - just know it gets better. It really does. I remember thinking this day would never come and look at me now!
Oh to be a baby again. It’s cold mornings like today where I wish I could just stay in bed a sleep all day. Having someone feed me would be nice too.
Caydence did such a great job for her Lifestyle Newborn Session yesterday. #KMarieFamilies
