I train #brazilianjiujitsu
because it always humbles me. It always reminds me that I’m not as tough or as bad as I think I am. It teaches me to put my ego aside and be open to learning. I take everything I learn on the mat and apply it to my marriage. Imagine being submitted over and over by your friends and even strangers in training, only to come home and refuse to submit to the one who knows you and loves you most. In my opinion that would be foolish. In #jiujitsu
, we say it’s okay to tap. It’s part of learning. So I say in your marriage, it’s okay to tap. It’s part of learning.
So I did a thing yesterday. There are so many images out there telling women that they need to be small, in shape, have great hair and make up done like they are walking the runway in order to be attractive. I have struggled for years to attain that image and have realized that I need to be my own kind of beautiful. I have learned to love myself and my flaws. I am not perfect but,I strive to be better every day. this tattoo means a lot to me because you should always try to be your own kind of beautiful and not what social media portrays. #happylife #fitlife #fitover40 #bebeautiful #tattoo
Recovery run 😄.
This move! Gotta love ab work when plank work is involved and you get to work the booty, too. Two for one!!
TIP OF THE DAY: There are clear scientific studies that state chronic illnesses such as Alzheimer's disease, cardiovascular disease, Type II Diabetes and some cancers can be incubating in our presumably healthy bodies for 10, 20 or 30+ years and the foods you eat and the lifestyle you live is a determining factor of how your health- life may play out.
I was talking to a potential new client last night that was 22 yrs. old and I was trying to make the connection in her head between what she is eating today, lifestyle and how it pertain to her health and longevity 20 to 50 yrs. from now and I felt a glaze roll over her face. She was fairly switched on about health and exercise and was fit, but it’s so hard to help people make the connection between the food we eat today, lifestyle and the gestation period of illness potentially growing in us for years while we think we are pretty healthy.
Even when people get diagnosed with cancer and the doctor says sugar feeds cancer cells many still can’t stop eating sugar and starchy carbs. Largely because they don’t believe there is a connection with what we eat and illness and the addiction to sugar is that strong.
When is the right age to start thinking about what chronic illness you are feeding with your current lifestyle? What are your beliefs on food and lifestyle as it pertains to your health and wellbeing? At what age have you or will you really start making the appropriate choices to support health and longevity? “Self-belief and hard work will always earn success.” I know this is post no. 2 about OHS, but I’m so freakin’ proud of myself because I’m able to do more than last week. This movement, and at a lower weight, comes easy for many. But w/my mobility issues and form, this is the hardest lift for me. I couldn’t do 1 true rep at this weight 6 weeks ago and now I’m doing a 5x5 scheme of LEGIT reps in preparation for a comp. Hard work and consistent practice pays off. That + xtra stretching w/@romwod
, plus proper breathing DO make a difference. Also this means my actual PR is WAY higher than I thought.

I was all fired up to day 45 of 80 Day Obsession this morning. ☀️ Halfway through the workout my brain started chattering. It filled up with talk about all the struggles and difficulties I am going through both physically and emotionally. My body stopped moving. I got lost and wanted to quit. 🚫💣🚫💣 I fell back into child's pose and a voice roared into my brain yelling "Are you fucking kidding me? Why are you letting this problem rob you of this time. Shut. It. Down. Now." And I did. 🙌
I turned it around. I got it done. Mind over matter. 💥💫💥I 🌟🌟🌟🏋️♀️Want to join my free motivational fitness group? See my link in my bio!⭐⭐🌟
