★ Motivation ★ Always remember that the key to success in a health and fitness journey is NOT motivation. Motivation is what may get you started on a journey, but it will come and go. Once you determine your goal, push yourself until you make it a routine. Understanding that you won’t always be motivated to eat healthy, go to the gym, etc is hard, but that’s the reality. If you don’t make it a lifestyle, it will be hard to maintain. It helps to allow yourself a treat when you feel you are lacking motivation completely, but let that be the reason you get back on track and work harder the next day. Understand why you are doing what your doing, and let that influence your decisions. One of my goals back in March when I started my fitness journey was to be able to fit into my favorite pair of jeans again. During that time, I could barely get them past my thighs...Now I can finally say they freakin fit!!!! 😍😱😄I went from a size 10 to a size 5! Yea I got a tiny butt 🤷🏻‍♀️ Fight me!
I do entrées too (as long as it’s within my limit). I love cooked salmon but salmon sashimi is up there on my list of favourite foods ever. And it’s keto baby! Also why waste a perfectly good piece of left over salmon skin when you can fry it up for some crunch. Jan 2017 -------------------> Sept 2018 Things I've learned : - If you want something bad enough you can do anything. - "Motivation" and getting hyped about something is great but having Discipline is what will carry you through when you are in hard times. - Focus on strength and the physique will come. Progressive fucking Overload. - Focus on the Big Compound Lifts and don't spend too much time on isolation exercises. - Listen to your body, if you're burnt the fuck out, or have a nagging pain, then rest. Better to take a day or two off than to get injured. - Never give up! There are times when it feels like zero progress is being made but just keep pushing through. - Learn as much as you can. There are so many ways to optimize training, and min/max your gains. Makes it a lot more fun to try new methods and concepts. Looking back on old college pictures of me I can’t help but reflect on all of the changes I have made in my life. Exactly four years ago I took the picture on the left with a group of friends as a freshman in college. I was uncomfortable but I thought “I’m in college now this is what college kids do”. Most weekends I’d go out and wake up feeling horrible the next morning. I would eat crappy food to beat the hangover and then get ready for the next week of classes until I could do it all again. . Flash forward to the picture on the right which is about a month ago. I graduated college and moved 10 hours away from home. I am happier and healthier both physically and mentally than I have ever been and I am building a life for myself that I am going to be damn proud of. . In four years I don’t want to look back on any picture from now and think “what the hell was I doing”. I’m on a mission to build my best life. It’s up to me.

Over 1600 Women participated in our @sandalschurch #cultivatewomen event this year ♥️ we worshipped, connected with each other and learned from @lysaterkeurst and our very own @mrstammybrown and @melodyworkman . 💕 The number in attendance is irrelevant in comparison to God’s ABUNDANT and POWERFUL presence throughout the weekend. he promises where two or more are gathered in His name... WELL! When you’ve got over 1600 women from all places of faith ... from unsure but leaning in to full on crazy for Jesus and completely surrendered to His presence 🙋‍♀️... you can FEEL Him move. Truly no words can describe... However, I wish I could give that feeling to every women I meet. For her to know she is LOVED and CHOSEN by a God that told the ocean where to stop and tells the wind where to move and yet cares SO much about her details and if she would simply lean in He would direct Her steps, wrap His arms around her and say - I’ve got you and I’ve got “this” ♥️ “This” doesn’t always look like what we want in the moment of look how we expected. But trust that for those that believe in Him and seek Him there is always a “meanwhile” God is working and using this for your greater good. Training Alert 😝🚨 . . There’s always the question of how often should we train our muscles. Research is still being done on this topic, but there will always be different opinions. Here’s mine! 💁‍♀️ . . It all depends on your genetic makeup. 👨‍👩‍👧 Our soreness and recovery time comes from our physiology. Some people take longer to recover than others. This can also depend on the amount of training you have done. . . 1️⃣ If you’re doing workouts that you can manage high reps at short muscle lengths, then there will not be as much stress or damage. Therefore, they can be done more frequently. Examples of these when exercising the glutes would be body weight glute bridges and abductions. . . 2️⃣ On the other hand, heavy exercises that stretch the muscles and are done until failure should be completed only twice a week. Examples of these when exercising glutes would be weighted lunges, step ups, and squats. . . I prefer doing a combination of both types. So, I will normally go for 3-4 times a week. Everyone is different! Positive thinking leads to positive outcomes.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Having a positive mindset isn't easy, especially when you have trained yourself to have a negative outlook on things.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I'm not a naturally positive person. For me, it takes work and daily intention. A huge factor in that is who I allow to have space inside of my head. It's so easy to get caught up in negative conversations or a negative thinking spiral. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What consumes your mind controls your life. If you are consumed by negative thoughts, you will manifest negative behaviors and outcomes. If you are consumed by positive thoughts, you will grow in abundance of positive actions and outcomes.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ How do you start to make that change? I have found that gratitude can make all the difference. When a situation is not the greatest, look for anything to be grateful for...even if it is that you woke up that morning and have the opportunity to live another day. Seeds of gratitude can reap harvests of hope. Hope turns into positive thinking. Positive thinking leads to positive outcomes.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ -⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It takes effort and intention. You have to practice thought stopping, or interrupting your negative thoughts and literally telling them to stop. With practice and being intentionally grateful, you will begin to see how much beauty actually surrounds you.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ - ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
