Side plank cable row ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The side plank cable row incorporates the core and posterior chain very well. Two things that are very important for posture, performance, injury prevention, and more. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When performing this exercise, as you lengthen the lat and extend your arm, the resistance from the cable will pull at your upper body. This is where the anti-rotation part comes in. Staying tight and resisting the force of the cable to pull you over is what makes this exercise so difficult. Remember to stay tight, and if the weight is making you move too much in the upper body to lower the weight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Key points 1. Keep the hips high, pretend your higher hip is attached to a string being pulled up toward the sky 2. Do not rotate. The entire point of this exercise is to teach your body to resist forces 3. Pull the cable to the mid part of your torso, keeping that elbow tucked in close to your side 4. Make sure to do your weak side first so you are not creating any muscular imbalances ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If too easy, some progressions include 1. Slow eccentrics 2. Perform on hand instead of elbow 3. Have a partner provide light forces to try and knock you over 4. Perform on unstable forces ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If too difficult, some regressions include 1. Regular side plank 2. Anti-rotation plank 3. Pregnancy is an incredible time that may leave a woman feeling anxious, excited, exhilarated and exhausted- all at once! A women’s body goes through a variety of physical changes that can commonly lead to nausea, fatigue, dizziness, increase laxity of joints and decreased balance. These effects need to be properly managed to avoid injury, however in a healthy pregnancy there is no reason exercise should be avoided. In fact, exercise is actually recommended and proven to benefit both mother and baby. Some benefits are to reduce pregnancy related hypertension, excessive weight gain and gestational diabetes. Not all exercise is suitable during pregnancy and everyone’s pregnancy is different. With all the overwhelming and sometimes contradicting information out there, it’s a good idea to speak to an Accredited Exercise Physiologist to ensure you exercising right for both mum and bub!🤱
20 Week Progress Report! So much I want to share... I don't know where to start! 1⃣ Body fat from roughly 26% down to 18.5%. I was at a serious stall at 19% for at least 5 weeks 😩. Weight is EXACTLY the same. No joke. 2⃣ This is an odd one to mention, but it is important to me fitness wise. When I first started out, I could not do ONE pull up... One of my main goals was to at least get 5. I can now do 3 sets of 8-10 🙌🙌🙌. This was huge for me. Probably something I'm most proud of actually 💪 3⃣ I spent the first 14-16 weeks eating 100% clean because I was under the impression that was the only way I could change my body. I made every single meal. I never cheated. I never binged. I was completely & obsessively committed. After a ton of research and girls here on IG raving about #iifym I decided I would shift gears slightly and start tracking my macros. Results SKYROCKETED... I was eating so much MORE and I began to actually see glimpses of my top two ab's every now and then 🙏 (one day I will see them all if it kills me lol). I still eat 95% clean because I like it (and I have a very sensitive tummy so I just feel better eating mainly "good" foods) BUT I am definitely way more flexible when it comes to eating other foods. I no longer fear eating things like packaged treats, chips, cereal, cake, or even breads that aren't Ezekiel brand 😂. Not quite up to the iifym pop tart lifestyle, but I am working on it 😜! 4⃣ I am currently eating over 2100 calories and 225 grams of carbs. I will be working my way up to 300 in the next few weeks, yeah baby!!! My body has officially turned my metabolism upside down. These are the supplements I use! I take creatine (starting loading tomorrow), vegan protein powder, fish oil, nitric oxide booster, selenium, zinc, and d3. I take 25-30 grams of protein post workout, 2ish grams of fish oil a day, and selenium zinc and vitamin d for overall immune health.
