I’m too busy. I have too much on my plate. I am too tired. I can’t get up any earlier. I have little kids. I can’t stick to a plan. It’s almost the holidays. I work. I stay at home. I don’t have enough energy. I don’t like healthy food. I have no willpower. I’m taking care of everyone else. I travel. My husband travels. I can’t workout at home. I can’t meal prep. I already know what I should be doing. . Any of these you?? Let me ask you something: how does it feel staying in that place?? . Do you feel strong, confident?? . I might have cried at the gym again. It’s becoming a regular occurrence unfortunately 🤦🏼‍♀️ . . I have come a long way since my surgery, but today I was reminded how far I have to go until I’m back to ‘normal’. . . My first thought was “At least you can walk, there are people worse off, you have no reason to cry.” . . But I stopped myself. While those thoughts may be true, I was essentially telling myself that my feelings of sadness, anger and frustration were invalid. That I wasn’t allowed to feel them, which is completely false. . . We are allowed to feel and experience ALL of our emotions. Not just the happy ones. It’s ok to feel sadness, anger, and frustration, as long as you don’t set up shop. Spend a short vacation there and then return home. . . Without those not-so-fun emotions, we would never be able to appreciate the happy, excited emotions. . . So cut yourself some slack. Cry. Be mad. Punch a pillow, then move on. Ok, here goes....yesterday my #tamily pulled up a two year old post of mine in our FB page. Well, later, our wonderful leader, @tracyandersonmethod encouraged us to post our before and after stories for our #tamilyfriend and #tamnewbie s. Mine isn’t exactly a before and after story so much as it’s a journey. In the first photo, I had been doing The #tracyandersonmethod for a year and had seen great results. Something happened with my body and I started gaining weight and had health issues. No number of Dr’s could figure it out. They said I was “healthy”. The ALCAT blood test was brought up in a discussion in our TA group. Tracy had taken the test and was having good results. I took the test and within weeks my body was healing itself. The second picture is one year after the first (It took months before I found the test!). The 3rd is a year later. Fit and healthy is a journey. One you must commit to daily. There is no quick fix so don’t fall for it. Listen to your body and push forward! Love yourself. You should be struggling to finish (with good form of course) I get a lot of questions on how heavy you should lift. Honestly, it takes some trial and error. You reps should be tough, but not impossible and those last couple of reps should be tough. . This goes for heavy weight/low reps as well as lighter weight/high reps. No matter your goals, you need to get out of your comfort zone. Your body won’t change unless you can make it uncomfortable. . . It was swollen, my bones are bruised and I’m a little unstable now. But, it’s been 2 weeks since I blew out my knee and I’m finding that I can do a lot more than I’m telling myself I can. . . My dr told me to let pain be my guide, and that I could do some exercise. I’ve been a little nervous to do any lower body work, but I as I pushed myself, I noticed that it was my brain holding me back. Not my knee. Now, I can’t go jumping around and squatting like crazy, but thankfully I can modify with the TRX. It felt good to let my leg do some work. Once I got out of my head and let me knee take over, I found that I could actually do a lot more than I thought. . . How often do you let your mind get in the way? You are so much stronger than you give yourself credit for. Challenge yourself to try something new! Just go for it! I’m one of those people that can’t eat a huge breakfast. I have to have a snack, and then an hour or 2 later I can eat a larger meal. . . I’ve never been a big breakfast person, but I’ve learned how I need to eat and when to eat in order to be healthy. . . Over the past 5 or so years, I’ve been working on figuring out my body and my nutrition. I am a snacker. *MOST* of the time I can’t sit down and eat a huge meal. If I do, I stay full all day and won’t eat the rest of the day. So, I graze throughout the day. Since realizing this, I’ve been a lot more conscious about WHAT I’m eating. . . Some days I count macros, some days I can’t do it, and THATS OK. On days where I feel like I want to eat everything, I count. On days where I feel good and am not worried about over indulging, I don’t count. It takes TIME to learn about your body and what works for you. Listen to your body and realize that you are different than everyone. . . THATS A GOOD THING. Figure out what works FOR YOU. The most important thing to remember is that food is fuel. Pay attention to how you feel when you eat clean vs not. You’ll feel a difference, I promise ;) . . . Ps. I LOVE my @idealfit protein in the morning! You would think my 2 year old had something better than an apple, but my labradoodle was very interested in what scraps he might be getting. We’ve had to put the dog on a diet because of how much the 2 year old likes feeding him.🤦‍♀️ Today was back in the gym! Every set was 3 rounds. Set 1-inchworms with a push-up x10 and 20x in/out squats Set 2- shoulder taps x15 and single leg pogo squats on TRX x 12(per leg) Set 3- single leg medicine ball throw/bounce backs x 10(per leg) and 10 overhead throw downs with a 20lb medicine ball Set 4- side plank extensions 10 per side and 1 minute plank I know I’ve talked about it before but inchworms were my nemesis when I first started this process almost a year ago. Today I went through all 10 for each round like a champ, even with a push-up. I actually had a harder time with the 20 in/out squats. In a few weeks it will be 1 year since I’ve started working with my trainer. We’re going to redo fitness testing and measurements. I’m curious to see what the results are, but no matter what they say, I am proud of how far I’ve come. Sure, I have been taking progress photos to see how far I’ve come, but this has become so much more than just a physical change. . 👉🏻 Mindset is everything. You need to know your deep-rooted why and have that push you through your hard days. Fit and healthy is what I want to be. What that looks like in my body is going to be different than what it looks like in others. . 👉🏻 When you want to quit, push out those last few reps. You have it in you!! It was so hard to choose a winner from my 6 week challenge, but meet Alley! She CRUSHED it!! She lost 12 1/2 inches and looks amazing!! (She decided not to weigh herself) . . . #banbodybullying A lot of people don’t know, but during Jr High and High School, I struggled with eating disorders. I was dancing a lot and was never the smallest dancer. I thought I had to be a size 2 and I was a size 8. . . Thankfully I had some amazing friends who noticed the little things, and pulled me out of it all. My time was “nothing to write home about” but on two hours of sleep working 4 hours and getting out for two mile walk feels pretty good. The first time I did this loop a year ago I could barely walk and breathe. On the last loop to home I realized I am 15 lbs away from my long term goal and these two kids combined weigh 80 lbs! Sweaty face. Dripping sweat. Friends that have become my family. That’s what these pictures show. What they don’t show are the tears, the anxiety, the depression, the self doubt, the tears of joy that came from overcoming hard things and so much more. . 2017 was hard, but wonderful. During the song How Far We’ve Come, I teared up. It hit me how far I’ve come in the past year. . After a difficult pregnancy and birth, my adorable son came to this world. With that came severe anxiety and depression though. As I look at each bead of sweat on my body, I’m reminded that I have made it through post partum. I still have hard days, but nothing like I used to have. Each drop of sweat represents how hard I have worked to find myself again. It represents the insanely hard work I have put into taking care of myself physically so that I can feel good mentally and emotionally. Each drop of sweat represents my love for each and everyone of you. You all push me to be better and do better. To jump higher, squat lower, and to push myself further than I thought possible. . .yes, 2017 was hard. But I’m glad it was. It molded me into who I am today. I never would have been able to grow as a person, mother, and wife if it weren’t for the trials I had this year.
