More than a dozen years ago, a blood test indicated that my cholesterol level was up to 251 - anything above 200 is considered undesirable but above 240 is considered high and dangerous!
My doctor scheduled me for a repeat test in 30 days, but told me I was likely going to be put on cholesterol meds - the same one my grandparents and my dad were taking. And at only 32, the thought of being put on a med to control my cholesterol “forever” kind of freaked me out!
While I was able to lower my numbers a bit before that 2nd test with a few diet changes, I wasn’t able to sustain it and by the time a 3rd test came around, I was back up to that 250 range. The next day and every day for the following 9+ years, I was on meds. And sadly after a little while, I kind of got used to it.
A funny thing happened though when I started being consistent with my home workout programs and with drinking my new favorite superfood shake everyday. Yeah I lost weight and gained a shit ton of energy, but my cholesterol numbers started to normalize!
To my surprise, my doctor suggested a 3 month trial being off meds…I was scared shitless! The meds were keeping my cholesterol levels out of that danger zone…I need them, right?
Despite my fear, the hope of being off meds was too strong so I gave it a shot.
Three months later, still drinking my nutritious shake and working out daily it was time for the big test.
A day or 2 later I received a call from my doctor. She asked me if I still had my cholesterol meds…
FUCK!!! Yeah I do.
Well, you can flush them down the toilet because your numbers are now better than they were while you were on meds, in fact they are better than good! Keep doing what you’re doing though…its definitely working!

I’m tuning 40 in one month exactly. 😳 Yes, I’m a little shook. But there is one thing I know for sure. I want to go into this next decade more fit and with more energy then I ever had in my 20’s and 30’s.
My BF% is right at about 10.5% right now. I’d like to get down to between 8% - 9% by my birthday. Which would be my leanest ever. I’m also going to the beach that week which is always good motivation. 🏝
Can I do it?
I’m determined. I’ll be doing a cut for the next 30 days. For me that’s 1840 cals per day. (12 x Bodyweight.) The key is to maintain muscle which is why I’ll be keeping protein high and not going too low on calories. I hope to lose 4 lbs of fat.

The rest were too BIG!!!! And trust me I have a LOT of business clothes being in suits every day for over 12 years when I did not work from home

Struggle bus 🚌
The comfort of working out in your own home - using a hot pink LYFT headband because it was closest. Until you share the pic on social media. 😂🤷♀️That picture was only meant to be shared with my Challenge Group but wth... 😏😣 I almost talked myself out of my workout this morning 3 times before I pushed play. 🙉🙉🙉
❌Because it was cardio (not my favorite)
❌It was only 35 minutes (I could do it after work -- yeah right, 4 kids, volleyball game, dinner, HW --first thing to get dropped is the workout)
❌I was so tired (Like half sleeping for 30 more minutes will be refreshing)
So, I did it and it felt great. 🤩🤩 🔮It's HARD to stick to committing to workouts everyday - especially when the newness of it wears off. That could be day 3, day 8 or day 12 for some people. 🔮It's HARD to keep going when you feel like you don't see any changes, you don't want to give up beer, so what's the point?
➡️➡️The point is, small changes add up, you don't have to make them all at once!
🔮It's HARD to eat right the other 23 hours of the day. #sohard
🔮But it's also hard to not feel comfortable in your own clothes. #chooseyourhard
🚌 I struggled with my nutrition the last 6 weeks of summer. Little by little, the results of my hard work from earlier this year were vanishing. Struggle bus was in effect.🚌🚌
So I refocused - ✅started a new program and intentionally focused on a specific nutrition plan. My scale started going right back down in days. 😮

who always seems to find the hills!! Taking my daily total to a nice round 10 miles.

My absolute favorite time of day is the morning, though. Since I get up when my husband goes to work around 4:30am, I have THREE GLORIOUS HOURS to myself — to work on myself — before I have to adult. I workout, drink coffee, learn, do personal development and work on my side business while the sun comes up. It gets my mind right.
