Outdoor fire staircases in Manhattan ... 108/365
1st day back in NYC and I'm back dragging my huge red suitcase up and down the subways and A Trains, having major flashbacks #TBT #throwbackthursday
to being in Brooklyn NYC almost 10 years ago, being 21, and making weird performance art at the original @graceexhibitionspace
Dug up some old internet archive pics from 2010 of the experiments, actions and personas I made: from the lost tourist posing for photos with accidental strangers on street corners everytime I needed to rest to catch my breath - to tying up the fire escapes of the gallery in string wire and rope to create my own outdoor durational sweatshop mending the clothes of the neighbourhood dressed as a deranged American football player before leaving my old garments out for free - stapling my own head with a staple gun dressed as a dubious UPS guy - building cardboard box homes for living and delivering - creating a live-streamed performance dressed as a wild west frontier cowboy where I challenged the audience-players to shoot the laptop webcam before I did... wtf did it all mean? I can't remember, but it was the best 3 months at the end of my undergrad degree and I can see and feel the echoes of the ideas, images and processes of what I make today. Bring on some new crazy inspiration New York, I'm back and ready for more! #newyork #brooklyn #performanceart #liveart #process #ideas #images #archive #dugup #2010 #tenyearslater #performanceresearch #durational #durationalactions #actionart #obscure #personas #fireescape #mending #cardboard #UPS #future #fast #past #suitcases #urbaninterventions #21 #wtf #personas
I love New York City textures and tones.

What do you think of when you hear the word strength?
When I hear I the word strength, a very specific image comes to my mind. I imagine the Titan Atlas, holding up the world alone and without reprieve.
Despite the agony of supporting the entire world, he would rather bear that weight for eternity than let us all fall.
To me that is the epitome of strength. Going against all your instincts to stop and pushing on in defiance.
When I'm standing in the squat rack, shaky and nervous for my last set, I think of Atlas holding the world and resolve myself to finishing what I set out to do. I am strong enough to survive the struggle of getting that weight up one last time.
It applies to everyday life too. When things get hectic with work and commitments, we need to remind ourselves of our inner strength. That way, we can seek out opportunities that everyone else is too scared to take.
The path of strength is filled with heavy duty obstacles but if you can survive one you can survive them all. 💪

back when I lived in #hellskitchen
. They came back a couple of years in a row in the #springtime
. I shot this pic when I was going through a pretty bad time personally. They were like pets to me (only wild and free!) and I loved them.
Don’t know who needs to hear this, but you should really start drawing/writing/dancing/painting/singing/playing again. #fallinlovewithlifeitself
Dreaming about NYC summer days (and equally hot summer nights)☀️
Planning My Escape.
As an introvert who needs a lot of personal space, New York has definitely proved to be challenging in that department... but I wouldn’t trade the experience for the world.
BTW, the wide angle lens is definitely making my arm look bigger than it really is 😂 ... I wonder what else I can use that lens for 🤔😂.
