UNITY. What the heck does that mean? And why do we care so much about it?
Well, written above is my favorite definition of the word. If you look in Merriam-Webster it’s written second, listed right after “the quality of or state of oneness.” I personally prefer “a condition of harmony.” Why? Because even in coming together as women in support of female unity, what makes us stronger is our DIVERSITY. Yes, we can all hope for “oneness” within the human race or “oneness” between all living creatures- for the greatest good and peace on earth.
But I think we are skipping a step... Once we have acknowledged how we are different, what our unique gifts or individual experiences are, and learned about each other THEN we can focus on oneness. To demand oneness before these pursuits seems too much like a concession. It feels like conformity.
The truth is we don’t need to agree on every subject. We don’t need We don’t need to look or do or be a certain way. Our opinions and our voices are valuable BECAUSE they are different. For UNITY to occur, we just need to harmonize these voices. Let us be the voices in the choir that sing for women’s greatest good. Let us come together to heal, to be educated, to grow together in love and understanding. Just as it is with singing, we cannot harmonize if we don’t continue listening to the notes being played and we cannot create anything beautiful if we don’t even try.
La Femme Nouvelle is for female unity. Our voice is one of many thank goodness, and we truly believe we are #strongertogether . Together we can achieve more. .
We are a safe space for women to learn how to better love, care and understand themselves- AND EACH OTHER. Our goal is to create a higher consciousness that will support women rising up individually and in their community. It will take a village and a lot of effort for us to UNLEARN all the hatred, competition and sexist beliefs we’ve been taught. More importantly, it will take real willingness to dig deep, honestly look at ourselves (our thinking and behavior) and begin new practices of love and compassion for our fellow women. To truly be an ally. There are so many wonderful organizations out there for women to come together. This one was started specifically for us to do the self work to overcome the internal barriers that keep us from fully supporting women. We believe the future of women depends on our ability to value ourselves and each other RIGHT NOW. So let’s do it.

WHAT A COOL DAY. #AyannaPressley is now poised to become the 1st African American woman to represent Massachusetts in Congress. Votes count! Make your voice heard. This isn’t a “political” page, but we can’t help feeling excited just knowing there is more representation for the marginalized in government. We are all about unity, harmony and equality here -therefore having voices in Congress that reflect the diversity of our nation is right in alignment with our values! 🙌🏾🙌🏽🙌🏿🙌🏼💜🤗
From @guardian - “In the latest upset during the 2018 Democratic primaries, Ayanna Pressley beat a veteran 10-term Democrat in Massachusetts in a House race being watched nationally as an indicator of the future of the Democratic Party.
With Michael Capuano conceding and no Republican opponent on the ballot in November, Pressley will be become the first African American woman to represent Massachusetts on Capitol Hill.”

This is a MOUTH FULL! 🙌🏾❤️ Some people thought @stephanielipsey and I shouldn’t go into business together or thought we would have separated by now or try to create a wedge. It can be hard to work in a salon full of women, and it doesn’t always work out. Ultimately, we can work together because:
1) We COMMUNICATE even when it’s tough...even when we don’t want to. Even if we think the other is wrong...even if WE are wrong. To hear and understand each other’s side. .
2) We use our STRENGTHS to uplift one another and help in the other’s weaknesses not to judge and tear down. We WANT the other to WIN!
3) We work on our insecurities. Women will ALWAYS sabotage themselves and opportunities in life when they feel competition or unnecessary jealousy because they are actually insecure with their own life and constantly compare and compete. .
4) We constantly humble ourselves for a bigger picture vs getting arrogant or changing up on one another. People often forget who someone has been to them when they don’t feel a “need” anymore. .
Women CAN WORK TOGETHER. BLACK women can coexist. It takes work and sincere love ❤️
