💥WHY YOU’RE NOT LOSING FAT💥 - Yup, your weekend habits might be detrimental to your fitness progress... BUT you have control over that. Always keep that in mind! - 😅Now, don’t get me wrong, lots of people actually do stick to their diet over the weekend and props to those people! But oh boiiiii, lots of people also screw up over the weekend. - Complete restriction during the weekdays can lead to complete binges at the weekend. Lots of times. You see, it’s cool to go out with your friends on the weekends and enjoy yourself. But hey, please, for your own sake. Calm down a little :) - Moderation. Don’t go on full blown cheat days and end up in a 1.6k calorie surplus that literally washes out ALL of the effort you’ve put in over the week. Because that what’s happens. When you go on a full blown cheat day - Just make sure your calories are where they’re supposed to be, also in the weekends. Enjoy yourself, in moderation. - Not on a full blown cheat day that wipes out all of the work you did over the week. That’s dumb and counterproductive. - Don’t forget to not restrict yourself too much and create a real lifestyle that supports your fitness, not one that destroys it. However on the picture you can see few tips how to get some extra vitamins for your body. . Choose quality over quantity especially vegetables and fruits. What are macros & why they are helpful to track? 🥑 🍠 🍗 . Macros = macronutrients that make up our food which are carbs, protein and fat. Most foods have two or even 3 of the macronutrients. Avocados for example are predominantly fat but also contain carbs, mostly from it’s large amount of fiber. . Using macros in addition to calories to hit your goals can help make sure you’re hitting a higher amount of protein & the right amount of fat and carbs for you which can lead to a better body composition change. . While a calorie deficit (for fat loss) or calorie surplus (for muscle gain) are super important, catering your macros towards your goals & genetics (i.e. can tolerate more fat or more carbs) can help you reach your goals faster & feel better overall. . I noticed when I started tracking my macros that I was slightly under my optimal protein level & that I could actually benefit from eating a little bit more carbs & little less fats. . Day 11. Embrace YOUR Journey . . ...and don’t stress too much over the goal. . . If you ask anyone who is on a health journey or someone who is trying to improve in any area of their life they will tell you that it is full of highs and lows... that is part of the process. . . It’s so easy to feel good when things are going well but what happens when we hit a low point or we feel like we aren’t making as much progress as we feel we should be? . . We hit a wall... a bloody big brick wall at that 🙈...we ask the big questions.... we wonder whether or not we should continue and we buy into the b/s story that tells us it’s too hard and not for us.... we think only Jerry is destined to have amazing abs and that Brenda will always look better than we do... . . I see this all the time in my own experience and also in many other peoples’ journeys.... . . We compare ourselves with other people and their results which only makes us feel worse OR we get down because we didn’t lose as much weight as we planned to this week....all of which do absolutely nothing for our self esteem or self confidence in the long run. . . Goals are important but don’t live by them. Don’t let them rule your emotions or dictate your happiness. What is more important is your consistency over the long game... it’s normal to slip up every now and then, it’s called being human, but what is key is that you get right back on track. . . Trust the process. Believe you are heading in the right direction and always keep moving forward and I promise you, you will get where you want to go AND you will achieve your goal. . . But in the meantime, appreciate and enjoy YOUR journey. It will be much more fun and you will be much more likely to sustain your healthy life for the rest of your life. Are you simply moving the weights from point A to B or are you applying mind-muscle connection when you are working out? 🤔🤔 - 🏋🏻💪🏻Mind-muscle connection refers to the conscious contraction of muscle during strength training. All movement initially starts at the brain and then to the muscles. The signals from your brain travel down your spinal cord to your muscles to produce movement. This is known as the Mind-Muscle Connection (MMC). This is where the mind meets the body to perform any task. - If you are doing exercise that is supposed to involve a specific muscle group, eg. chest, and you can't feel your chest, you are simply moving the weights from A to B and missing out on a lot of results acquired from simply squeezing the targeted muscle group. Neglecting mind-muscle connection could also lead to the imbalance and underdevelopment of the muscle. - 👉🏽If any of these examples apply to you, start using less weight and really focus on feeling the correct muscles that need to be involved. LEAVE YOUR EGO AT THE DOOR WHEN YOU ENTER THE GYM. - The next time you hit the gym, compare the "Pump" you feel when you swing the dumbbell up and down during a bicep curls VS when you squeeze your bicep on top of the movement and control the weight down. Today we will be discussing some of the bro-science that are commonly heard in the gym. 😎 - First is losing your gains, as frightening as it might be to see the muscles you worked so hard for wither away. It just won't happen with just a week of inactivity. Studies has shown that it take 2 weeks for muscle to start getting smaller.😧 Just remember that muscle memory has a big part to play in this, you could take a break for as long as you like and you will gain it all back once you start pumping the iron again. 💪🏻💪🏻 - 🏋🏻🏋🏻 The next myth is needing a lot of variety all the damn time. Variety doesn’t get you strong. Instead choose a few exercises per muscle group and focus on progressing those(Progressive overload). You’ll build much more muscle this way as opposed to trying to do every damn exercise ever invented. - 🤔🤔 The next common misconception is about protein powder. People thinks that it’s a magical sand that builds muscle when dissolved in their protein shaker. In reality it’s just a convenient source of protein. The truth is that, building muscle requires a properly planned diet consisting of sufficient amount of macro-nutrients such as your proteins, carbs and fats. What really matter is hitting the required macro-nutrients at the end of the day. - And lastly while we’re on the subject of protein shakes, you don’t have to chug one down the moment your last rep is completed. Research has shown that total daily protein matters way more than the timing. Nutrition timing such as insulin sensitivity and protein synthesis does not really matter unless you are an elite athlete that trains multiple times a day and need the replenishment between your training session. 🗑You hear a lot of trash advice from people who don’t know what they’re talking about. - 😂One of those advice is if you can’t pronounce an ingredient, it automatically means it’s bad for you. The damage is rarely in a single ingredient, the damage is in the dose or how much you consume of a certain ingredient. - 🙅🏼♀The next terrible advice is thinking food is healthy just because it says low carbs, low fat, gluten free, or organic. All of these labels means nothing and some of the most unideal food choices have these labels. Too much of these will make you fat as well. . . . 👎🏾And then there’s the idiotic clean eaters who will tell you calories don’t matter, all you got to do is eat “clean” whatever the heck that means. - ✅Here’s some much better advice. - 🍽Learn to eat in moderation and control yourself when needed. - 🥑Next is to read the calories in your food. That organic gluten free muffin at Starbucks is still a muffin therefore packed with tons of sneaky calories just like any other muffin. Always read labels. - 🥜And lastly, always be mindful of portions even with “clean” foods.
