And no inspection is done to make sure companies are actually following these (already fairly vague) standards. 😡 Sounds bad. Then “All Natural” comes along… 🤯 A food with this label could technically be the same as “natural,” or it could be completely unregulated because “all natural” has no specific definition. 🤓 Don’t let labels convince you of what is healthy or unhealthy. Dimming the lights 3. Lavender oil on my temples and of course yoga 💤 Here I share 8 poses that help me relax my body and mind before bed 💤 1. 🌜Seated Forward Fold - close your eyes forget about whether you head is touching your knees and just let your body release its tension 2. 🌜Child’s pose - lovely gentle stretch for the lower back after a day of sitting at a desk 3. 🌜Knees to Chest pose - give yourself a big hug for the day 4. 🌜Seated Twist - brilliant for twisting out the day and massaging the stomach 5. 😴Bound Angle - if you want a lower back stretch then move your feet further away from your seat. If you want a hip stretch then keep your feet nearer your body 6. 😴Plough - one of my favourites for stretching my entire spine and neck. Please make sure you keep your head perfectly still in this pose to avoid neck injury 7. 😴Lying Twist - another yum stretch that feelings amazing after sitting or standing all day 8. 😴Legs up the wall - the best relaxation pose in my opinion. This is a semi supine pose and if you deepen your breath too, your central nervous system cleverly adapts and shifts out of the stress system; sympathetic system; doing mode - to the restful system; parasympathetic; being mode. 💤 I like to take upto 10 breaths in poses before bed to really practice my mindful breathing and slow my body and mind down 💤 light a candle 💤 put on some relaxing music and you have yourself a mini mindful yoga bedtime party 😴👌🏼 enjoy x E x 😍😚 . . . .

Exciting news!! You DON’T have to skip the French Toast or Pancakes in order to be healthy or reach your fitness goals 🙀🤩👏🙌 . . Ok, if you’ve been following me awhile then this may not be new “news” & it’s definitely not “fake news”😅IT’S REAL! You really don’t have to give up any foods you love in order to reach your fitness goals! And I know I say this pretty much everyday 😅but it’s because I know that everyday you’re also likely hearing the opposite! I want my page to be a dedicated place for balance & understanding, & to show how I truly live this balanced nutrition lifestyle that let’s me feel my healthiest, strongest, & best🤗❤️ . . When I was a “clean eater”, I thought brunch automatically meant getting the Egg White & Veggie Omelette or just Scrambled Egg Whites w/ Fruit, & while there’s nothing wrong with those options (& sometimes I do choose them) other times when I’m out to eat I just want some freaking French Toast! So I get it😜 . . BUT when I do I make sure to enjoy it as a balanced meal vs an indulgent “cheat” meal. This is because I want to truly enjoy the carby/sugary/fatty goodness that French Toast offers because it will satisfy that craving but I ALSO want to leave the meal feeling fueled! So I will split an order or French Toast(or pancakes, crepes, etc.) & get something like a side of egg whites & sliced ham to add in more lean protein. This helps make the meal more fueling & satiating because the protein helps with slowing digestion aka feeling fuller longer & having more steady energy levels 👏👌💪 . . Some other options I would do for a more balanced brunch out are: •Eggs Benedict w/ hollandaise on the side to use sparingly •Omelettes are typically high fat if not using egg whites so I would skip having a carb source to not make it too high calorie •Choose between carb sources as in not having toast, hash browns, pancakes, French l toast, syrup, and fruit, but choosing moderate portions of 1 or 2 •Choose 1-2 fat sources: avocado, cheese, whole eggs, sauce, or oil •Also, if I thought a restaurant wasn’t going to have a lean protein option, then I would have a protein shake prior . . Trying to come up with a list of things I wish I could have done in my first 25 years of life. Things I didn’t get to yet. Things I didn’t accomplish yet. It's important to see the bigger picture when it comes to your goals and health. - Many people can get easily caught up with the smaller things (perhaps missing the odd session, having a meal out etc) and this can cause people to adopt an all or nothing approach which often only leads to complete failure or poor relationships with food and fitness. - Focusing on the process as a whole, rather than the end result alone, can allow us to understand how to be much more flexible and smart with our behaviours. - For example, eating out doesn't have to mean the end of the world. We can perhaps instead slightly change our eating habits for the rest of the day/week to help make sure we can both stay on track and enjoy the meal. - Or if we perhaps need to recover rather than beast ourselves in the gym, taking that session slightly 'easier' will be more beneficial long term rather than thinking we have to beat ourselves up every session. - Focus on the big picture, focus on the process and don't stress about the odd little slip up or obstacle. Does eating healthy have to be expensive? You’ve committed to a healthier lifestyle in your efforts to lose weight. Naturally this means keeping healthier food around. You go to the grocery store to buy fruits, veggies, lean meats, healthy snacks, and more. You walk up to the register, start to check out, and see the cost going up and up and up. When clients, friends, & strangers talk to me about their frustrations of not being able to lose weight(body fat), even though they are “eating clean,” this is the first point I try to get across. - Ultimately fat loss is about calories in vs calories out. If you are taking in more calories, even when deemed clean, than you expend in the day, you will not lose weight and you may even find you are gaining weight. - Before you blame it on age, metabolism,hormones etc...try weighing your foods for a period of time. That you can eat them til’ your heart’s content and never gain weight.⁣ ⁣ Sorry, no.⁣ ⁣ Calories do matter. And if your goal is fat loss, you will have to monitor your intake. I am always bringing up the topic of being consistent with your workout and diet but it seems to never stick. One thing I notice with my clients, friends and family they are always looking for that magic workout or diet for fat loss, getting stronger, etc and always ask me “what diet am I on or what exercise am I doing”. Let’s make this clear there is not one single exercise or diet that’s going to get that dreaded back fat off or give you that six pack you are always chasing. When it is all said and done it comes down to what you can be consistent with. Whether, that be keto for all you enthusiasts out there. If it fits your lifestyle and work for you and actually be consistent with it then go for it. Of course it’s going to get that fat off but long term is your health going to suffer 🧐 and for all you CrossFit fans out there. Yes, CrossFit can get you amazingly fit and sometimes strong but can most people be consistent with it? NO, because anyone that knows Olympic lifting it ain’t easy and requires some skill. Me personally I like boxing and lifting heavy shit so that’s what I am going to do. Diet wise? I’ve never been able to adhere to a so called “diet” I just make sure I get all my daily intake of all food groups 👌. A high majority of this loss is from muscle and not fat. - I have laid out some fundamental steps to prevent the loss of muscle mass which in turn can lower you basal metabolic rate (BMR) meaning it will be harder to lose fat. - 🏋️‍♀️Just lift some heavy shit. Pretty straight forward but the stronger you get, the more muscle mass you will maintain. 🥩 However, you need to eat sufficient amount of protein to maintain muscle mass. Anywhere between 0.8-1g/kg/day is suffice. (For general population) if you are in the early stages of lifting and/or injured book into see a Dietitian to get correct intake. - 🏃🏻‍♂️Endless amounts of cardio can be a tool for fat loss but also can be detrimental to muscle maintenance. Do not do it in excessive amounts as it will burn into fat. - 🍩If you have been eating in a high calorie deficit, chances are you are suffering from certain physiological and psychological factors and just need a rest from your “diet”. No it ain’t magic you’ve just found a way to create a deficit in a way you enjoy to stay consistent. I’ll say it again the best diet for fat loss is a way you enjoy that way you to stay consistent there is no other way. Do some strength training, create a deficit and stay consistent it’s that simple. What I will say though, fat loss is not everything. Eating a well balanced diet with a variety of food groups focusing on your heath and longevity should be priority, then focus on creating a deficit for fat loss. If you need help with this seek professional advice from an Accredited Practicing Dietitian who spends 4+ years studying this field and continues their learning and experience throughout their careers not a #fitspo who has a good booty🤦‍♂️ What works for your friend or family will more than likely not work for you. 🏃🏽‍♀️Fasted Cardio? Should you do it? The answer: if you want to🤷🏽‍♀️ . . Many people are doing fasted cardio so that they will “burn fat” faster. The thought is that by training fasted the body will have nothing to feed off of so it will dip into the excess fat storage and burn that. This is not technically true. Studies have shown that it is true that the body will use a different energy source but it does not burn actual body fat any better than fed cardio. When they compared the fasted vs fed athletes they did not show any increased body fat loss differences between the two groups. It also mentioned that fasted cardio can actually be detrimental to muscle growth if not keeping your protein intake up! It also showed how overall performance output was not as intense in the fasted vs fed athletes. . . I personally DO train fasted, but not for the case of “burning fat faster”. I train fasted because I’m simply not hungry at 5:30 in the morning!! I do supplement my sessions with a Protein Shake and keep my protein intake up during the day so that muscle will not be lost! . . So there you go! There’s your first fitness myth🤓 Hope everyone is having a great Saturday! From @mazerfitness Follow for more inspiration When people come to me for coaching and say they want to lose fat. The first thing I ask them is, ‘well what are you doing right now to lose fat?’. Most of the time answer is something along the lines of ‘I tried X fad diet and X juice cleanse but they didn’t work. I also do cardio 5x a week’ - Now this isn’t necessarily wrong, I know it’s fairly hard to figure out what information and products are real and what is fake because let’s be honest here. The fitness and especially supplement industry is somewhat shady and if you’re just starting, it can be a real maze to get through.. - Here’s what you want to be doing to really lose fat: 👉 Dial in your nutrition. Be in a caloric deficit and eat adequate protein, eat mostly whole foods and all that good stuff. 👉 Strength train 2-5x a week. 👉 Sleep well and make sure your stress levels aren’t through the roof. 👉Now if we nailed all of these things, we can look at how much cardio you should do. - I know it’s not really what you want to hear, but it’s the truth and I can’t really package it any better.. - I hope this was helpful and of course as per usual if you have any questions just pop em in the comments and I will try to get back to you!! - ♥️Much love, Dennis - P.S.
