Someone asked the other day for tips for a soon to be farm wife. **i am no expert, this is all from my own experience.** .
Understand that it is not an easy life to lead...Never and in anyway. Hard but always worth it, especially if you want kiddos someday. Raising them on the farm may be my favorite part of it all💜. Some days you’ll want to quit. But then you realize you can’t. You need a hellaciously good support system...friends that understand your lifestyle and that busy time just really means that.. always busy and no time to play. The weather will always dictate events, if it rains you can go.. if not, understand you will miss a lot of things. But it’s just apart of the life. Stress will weigh heavy in your home, probably not as much yours as your husbands... and you need to be the “home” for him. You need to be the positive optimist that he just cannot be. You need to make your house a true home and someplace comfy and welcoming for him to come after a long hard day accompanied by a meal (full tummy make everyone happy!). You need to lighten the mood and try to bring gratitude into the picture always. You HAVE to be willing to help. Anywhere. Anytime. Learn to sit your fear in the backseat and drive your bravery like a damn boss! Women can do anything.. we just have to accept that and learn to take really deep slow breaths when something does scare the shit out of us and just try it. Always be willing to TRY 💜 You need to understand you will get lonely... like really really lonely at times. But you’re strong and will learn how to cope with it, I promise. Dates, even after kids is taking time and doing what needs done, if that means uncomfortable tractor rides, checking wells, anything just go and tag along for the time together! You should be prepared for a phone call any minute of the day needing help. Don’t ever start supper without making sure you aren’t needed lol. Understand that money will always be an issue, farming is really hard, especially right now. Do NOT fight about money... that is a never ending fight and not worth the hardship in your home. Bart and I have a very good understanding of anything over $300 or any new equipment purchases
Dog mom... ❤️🦁 (Peep... my handmade coffee table in the back!!)
I went to meet the neighbours - we were all as confused as each other 🐾🐮 #newfie
The family bond between goats is strong my friends! 💗💗Here is tiny little Sprinkles, her older sister Mocha Latte’, and their Mama Hannah 💗 They are the sweetest little trio and have joined right in with the rest of the herd without a hitch! It rained all day here - and the goaties hung out in the barn all day. I went out to check on them and they were all snuggled up in their little family units 💗 They are sentient beings with real feelings, emotions, and thoughts. 💗Just my #crazygoatlady
thoughts of the day!
Lavender is amazing in how it comes in so many different colours and varieties! We have 9 different varieties of English lavender at the farm! I think this one of my favourites though, twickle purple. I love the colour of a grey with the purple!
Happy tongue out Tuesday! 👅 Peep the dirt on Chase’s forehead 😝
Mama keeps a close eye out while her little one naps. Standing next to their enclosure, I could hear the young one snoring as he slept.
chicken is the ultimate when it comes to taste. This whole chicken was served on a bed of charred kale and preserved lemon and was the talk of the meal. We paired it with baby brussels and a fresh market salad. Sound good? 🍽🐓🌾 @chefcathy @primalpastures @farmerpaulg
Three weeks from today the @sunbeltagexpo

As mentioned in a previous post, this postcard is from Van Ripers Farm in Woodcliff Lake NJ. Unfortunately, it no longer exists but it was the place to go for pumpkin picking and the whole Halloween experience.
Just poppin’ in to say hello
