New post on the blog! 🤓Rambling about turning 29 🎂and writing my goals for you all to see! I am holding myself accountable. 😜Focusing on inner happiness to be the best version of myself.
Summer of the Scooters•
Earlier this summer residents of downtown Indianapolis woke up to find hundreds of scooters on our sidewalks, cultural trail and roadways. This has become quite the debate this summer and as someone who lives downtown, works downtown and raising a family downtown here are my thoughts. •
I am ALL for anything that brings people downtown. Everyone should experience my great city and all the hidden gems that are within the downtown neighborhoods. Most of the time people come downtown for a Pacers game, Colts game or to go out at night. You know dinner and drinks in the wholesale district. However, there is so much more to experience downtown. Come down to Fletcher Place to all the wonderful restaurants we have or the unique nightlife of Fountain Square. Take a stroll to the Canal or walk through Lockerbie Square and look at all the perfect downtown homes. •
BUT when you do come downtown please remember people live here. Families live here. Retired couples live here. We all take pride living in downtown Indianapolis and would like our visitors to treat downtown with respect. Sure the scooters are fun but don’t leave them in the middle of the sidewalk where a mother and baby can’t stroll by. Ride a scooter on your lunch break but don’t park it in the entryway to a parking garage. Come downtown and ride scooters on a date night but don’t ride them if you have had too much to drink. Come downtown, visit our wonderful neighborhoods but please be safe. •
Remember we are not taking the scooters to your subdivisions and acting like fools. Please don’t act like fools in our downtown neighborhood.
One reason I created this account was to document my struggles and successes as a mom. I’m a single mom and we go to Disney a lot, but there’s more to our story. .
My son is in second grade and I’ve always known he struggles in reading. He has struggled since VPK. I’m a reading coach with a masters degree in reading education and haven’t been able to successfully teach my child to read. It’s emotionally hard and frustrating.
I’ve been doing a lot of research and I think my son is dyslexic. The problem is most teachers in Florida do not receive adequate training in how to help students with dyslexia (myself included). I’m not going to let Tanner slip through the cracks though. We will figure this out.
If you’re looking for ONLY Disney posts, this probably isn’t the right account to follow. We do go to WDW almost every week, so you can bet I’ll be posting all about our trips, but I’ll also be posting about life in general. I hope you stick around.
Being a single mom is hard. Being a mom of a struggling student is hard. Being a teacher mom is hard. Being a mom IN GENERAL is hard. I’m so blessed to be this kid’s mom though and I wouldn’t change it for anything. I look forward to the day when he can read all the train books and tell me more facts than I ever want to know, because that day is coming... I know it.
I’ll just leave this here.
Been up since 3:30am so I guess a double strength coffee is in order. On the plus side, I get some reading time in AND I can use my new @madebyelissa
bookmark as well. #coffee #bookish #mornings
That is the word that kept coming to mind when our boys birthdays crept up on us this year. We were just not at a place to mentally do birthdays like we have in the past, something had to give. Yet we still wanted our boys to be celebrated and feel loved on their big day...after all its once a year right?
So instead of giving a few gifts this year, they unwrapped one from us and then the BIG gift we gave them was: TIME. And now I kind of never want to go back to the old birthday ways..this was a special year! (More on the blog, link in bio)
So know that summer is finally winding down and the fall adventures are starting, I figured I needed to do a Summer 2018 roundup of our favorite activities and play dates around Indianapolis. We had so much fun this summer, even if most of it was spent renovating our condo.
So many unforgettable moments from our many, many trips to the zoo to playing on a sunflower trail with our friends. I have listed some of our favorite Indy summer fun moments.

When leaving house takes longer than you’re actually out of the house!
I’ve just put this little one to bed and I sit here in total awe of him. I’ve had the most wonderful conversation with him as he sat in bed. He was telling me all about his day in school which coincidentally he couldn’t remember a few hours ago. It’s funny what bedtime will do isn’t it? Earlier on I sat and listened to him read and his progress is astounding. He is such a clever little boy and I am so proud of what he’s achieving. #myboy
Missing this one's infectious giggle, silly sense of humour and wild streak this evening. Three days without her being around and the house feels very, very quiet. It's so weird only having two lunchboxes and dinners to make instead of three. I'm sure she's having the time of her life doing all sorts of adventurous things on her residential trip with school (I hope so anyway), but I can't wait to have her home again. Two more days!

Day 36. We were at @toddlersenseuk
today and had an awesome morning adventuring with Tod while driving cars and trains, riding horses and playing musical statues. It is also my Birthday Eve which is highly exciting and means I get to curl up with H's Daddy and watch Harry Potter, eat sushi and drink wine. 🍣🍷🧙♀️ I also went to the vegetarian street food stand at Lancaster Charter Market for my falafel and halloumi wrap which was amazing!

As parents, we want to spare our children harm. But sometimes we have to inflict it for the sake of their health—things like stitches, blood draws, throat cultures, rectal thermometers, ouch. And it’s difficult to explain to young senses that this is for their own good. That the discomfort will help them, protect them, equip them. .
Yes, you know it hurts, but only so they can be spared worse hurt later.
They don't really get that. In those moments, all our kids can feel is the pain.
Aren’t we just like our children? We kick and scream when life stings. We don’t understand. We try to wriggle free. We see God not as our Healer, but as the guy jabbing the needle.
What if, instead, we ascribed to him a different role? The role of the parent.
The One who holds our hands steady through the prick. The One who sings softly in our ear when we whimper. The One who promises a Happy Meal when the trial is over.
The One who feels our pain, cries our tears, and loves us enough to let us hurt.
How does that change the way you look at your suffering today?
"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all." (2 Corinthians 4:17)
I never thought I’d see my daughter so excited about receiving something with the word “Poopsie” in it, but let me tell you...when these Poopsie Surprise Unicorn and Poopsie Slime Surprise! Poop Packs arrived at our door she FLIPPED 👏 OUT 👏. I’m not kidding when I say she ran around the house screaming for at least 10 minutes straight! She has been talking about these new toys since she first laid eyes on them on YouTube and has been begging me to put them on her Christmas Wishlist. #sponsored
Guys, THIS is the toy to buy NOW! This will be one of the top toys for the holidays! First of all, it is super easy to make the slime. You just add water! 💦 I can’t tell you how awesome it is that she can make it entirely herself without having to buy a ton of ingredients! Each Poopsie Surprise Unicorn comes with 20 —yes, TWENTY — “blind” surprises. This is perfect for kids who love “blind” packs/surprises! The Poopsie Slime Surprise! Poop Packs come with the most adorable collectible Poopsie Keychains and bottles. I love how these toys provide so many hours of entertainment and how they help her use her imagination. Our Poopsie Surprise Unicorn is ‘Oopsie Starlight’ and she was exactly the one my daughter was hoping to get! She eats slime, uses her “potty”, and is just the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. We just can’t get enough of how adorable and FUN the #PoopsieSlimeSurprise

Bis bald und liebe Grüße von Elischeba 😘

I have to confess to something a bit weird..... Me and my husband take it in turns with which baby we put to bed. They both go down at a similar time but the eldest takes more time over playing in the bath and bedtime stories, so when it's my husband's turn to put him to bed, I'm usually just coming out of the youngests room while he is reading the bedtime story.
Every time this happens, I always listen to him tell the story on the monitor.
As creepy as this may seem, I absolutely love it. He is so patient, letting our son turn the pages and even sits and listens while he reads the book to him if that's what he wants to do. He makes sure there's space for the chosen soft toys of the evening to listen too, always puts on funny voices for the characters and never says no to 'one more Daddy'. It's while I'm listening to this, that I always realise.... no matter how stressful life gets, how long it's been since our last date night or how many times I've wanted to punch him in the face that day.... that he is, and always will be, the man of my dreams.
#wethree #homesweethome
