I was scrolling through old photos this morning and I came across the one on the left, Avey was about 8 months old when this photo was taken and I was struggling with my postpartum body. I was battling mega breastfeeding hunger which I used as an excuse to binge junk food.
I didn’t realize that the reason my breastfeeding hunger was out of control was because my body was trying to tell me I wasn’t receiving the proper nutrients. I was eating a lot of processed convenience foods, even though I was getting more than enough calories, my body was totally starved of beneficial nutrients and so was my breast milk.
When I began fueling properly my breastfeeding hunger went away completely! This might not be the case for all who struggle with breastfeeding hunger but it was a revelation for me!
I am so proud of that girl on the left, she never believed she could get to where she is now, always hoped, but never really believed it. I wish I could go back in time to tell her that she is so much stronger than she ever dared to believe. Conquerer. Overcomer. Badass Mama Jama. Look at you now girl!❤️

Can we just talk about SLEEP for a minute? 🌙 .
Did you know that there is such a strong connection between sleep deprivation and weight gain? .
I have been really interested in learning more about the connection between sleep and weight. I worked night shift for a few years and gained a LOT of weight during that time! I was chronically sleep deprived, always hungry and craved ALL the carbs during those years and I’m just now learning that there was a scientific reason for that! .
There are so many articles and research studies on the internet you can read if you are interested in learning more about sleep deprivation and weight gain. .
Thankfully I have been working a day shift schedule for the past two years but I do get up for work between 3:30-4am (sooo early!). I KNOW how important sleep is for my overall health so that means I go to bed early to get that rest. My goal is to be in bed by 8pm so here I am in my nightgown and my nightly cup of decaf lemon tea at 7pm. 🍋 .
Get past your fear of missing out. Turn off your tv. Put down your phone. Don’t feel guilty for making adequate sleep a priority. .
For me sleep is JUST as important in my #weightlossjourney
as diet and exercise. .

Went out with this dress yesterday. I bought this for my trip to Jamaica in late September and wasn’t able to button it around my hips and now it fits and it’s even a little loose!
is NOT what you need!
You need to connect to your “why”
Why do you want to change things about your life?
Why do you want more out of life?
When is the last time you fulfilled a promise that you made to yourself?
I can’t give you these answers.
I can’t give you the motivation, and wishing for it sure as hell isn’t going to change things.
Be honest with yourself and connect to your “why”, you will never need to rely on “motivation” again.
In my case it was a matter of choosing life, or death. I choose to live!

Just a little sweaty after shaking my ass at Zumba. This shirt has been tight/short on me, but I looked in my closet and it spoke to me! Haha!

I’m really trying my best and so far I’ve done pretty good, from 1/2 of that sandwich from this morning, to now a deconstructed chicken salad with 2 eggs whites and a few grapes. I’ve just realized this week is going to be very busy and stressful🤦🏻♀️. Today I had to let a plumber and carpet cleaner into my crappy neighbors apartment and take pictures of the problem🙄, Tomorrow I have pest control coming, then a realtor who was suppose to come tomorrow now is coming Thursday when that’s like my busiest day. Wednesday I have a lunch at my sons school and Thursday I have appointments all day(since I try to cram them all into 1 day),then my pre op appointment, and the realtor, and Friday is parent teacher conferences 🤦🏻♀️. Oh, and sometime this week the contractor is suppose to come and fix that GIANT HOLE from that car accident 3 weeks ago😅! I don’t know how all this is going to work with baby naps, and all the other 500 things I have to do a day, but I really need to stay on track with ALL of this! 😪
