The joys of not being hungover slash drunk on a Saturday... having a whole weekend to DO shit!! Up now having a massive breakfast and a pot of tea, then it's off for a swim, a zumba class and a little toning session in the gym before coming home, cleaning the house and attempting some pulled pork in the slow cooker... then tonight, I'm going to paint for the first time in FOREVER! I have to be in the right mindset to paint and mentally, I've just not been there as of late. But this week has been wonderful, I'm feeling INCREDIBLY creative and I can't wait to get started! Understand that to achieve results you may be required to do things that are 'not ideal.' Eating less than what you're used to is not ideal. Increasing your energy expenditure through more resistance training/cardio is not ideal. Having to weigh all your food every day is not ideal. Eventually having to restrict food you enjoy is not ideal. Sometimes you might not have to do much of this but it all comes down to context. #4 ⁣ Fat loss supplements are BS! Don’t get caught up in the latest fads or rediculous marketing schemes. What they make up for in a abundance of advertising, they lack in education. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The only supplements that will aid your performance journey are; caffeine, creatine and protein shakes and they still don’t directly effect changes to fat loss. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #3 ⁣ You may have been told you don’t exercise enough, but this couldn’t be more wrong. It may be a preventative medicine, but just because your PT says you need to do burpee’s, CrossFit and the JOE WICKS 30 minute HIIT workouts doesn’t mean you’ll lose fat faster! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #2 ⁣ Individuals that stay active on a regular basis burn the most calories. By walking 10,000+ steps daily, you’ll burn thousands of calories every week! And guess what? You might not have to step foot in a gym to lose body fat. In fact, it might be more wise to concentrate on your levels of activity before you subscribe to any fitness gimmicks that can could leave you injured. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ BE IN A CALORE DEFICIT! If you haven’t heard it before, you NEED to take note! Whilst it’s very important to eat a healthy diet of balanced macro and micro nutrients, if you eat too many calories ⁣⁣ you WILL gain weight and potentially body fat. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ #1 ⁣ If you’re trying to lose body fat, attending the gym regularly, trying to ‘eat clean’ and hating every second of it, it won’t take long until you fail again. ANTI-DAD-BOD I confess my training has been minimal (ie nil) over the past weeks due to the small matter of being lost staring into the eyes of my new daughter. BUT the clutches of #dadbod must be resisted if we are all to set a good example for the next generation. Today’s movement medicine? Simple training; 100 #kettlebellswings followed by sets of double Turkish get-ups (x3 speed in vid). These guys had me revolving as I practised the windscreen-wiper on the way up, and turning my whole body (after the reverse lunge) on the way down. Nothing heavy, just getting some comfortable training on the 24kg bells. Then, mobility and decompression. Then, go home and live life.
