Activated charcoal is craaaazy powerful. It binds to dirt and helps to pull it out of your pores. Your pores don’t technically ever grow...it’s just that the oil and dirt that gets stuck inside them makes them appear to be larger. So your pores will look smaller with this mask!
What I do is add about a tablespoon to a bowl and then add water drops a few at a time until it becomes a paste. Rub it all over your face (I like to scrub a bit as I’m doing this) and then leave on for ten minutes.

How to bring your Triglycerides down? -
Now that you know what TG’s are and do (refer previous post), let’s learn to how to reduce it. People with high triglycerides usually tend to be older and overweight, smokers, and got no physical activity. Healthy lifestyle changes can counter these bad habits and are even more important than medication. It is definitely not rocket science and everyone of us could start taking small steps for a healthy heart. Let me show you how: -
Lose weight ❤️ Even if you are slightly overweight but your TG levels are high, cutting back on some calories and losing a few pounds can do wonders. Extra calories are converted to triglycerides and stored as fat. Reducing your calories will reduce triglycerides. Losing 10% of your body weight solves half your problem. -
Reduce Alcohol 🍸: Time to say goodbye to chugging beers or shots !! Alcohol is high in calories and sugar and has a particularly potent effect on triglycerides. -
Reduce Intake of Simple Sugars 🍫: Simple carbohydrates, such as sugar and other processed foods (biscuits,ready to eat pastas, fried noodles, etc) made with white flour (cakes, pastries, croissants, etc) or fructose (soft drinks,juices,syrups, etc). -
Quit Smoking🚬: No if’s or but’s: Don’t reduce it, just quit it !!! -
Replace bad with healthier ones 🍖: Trade saturated fat found in meats for healthier fat found in plants, such as olive, canola and flaxseed oils, avocados & nuts. Skip red meat, try cold water fish high in omega-3 fatty acids such as mackerel or salmon. Avoid trans fats or foods with hydrogenated oils or fats- Read the labels carefully. -
Increase the fibre intake 🥗: Green veggies and fibers like chia, flax, psyllium or bran, help too. -
Exercise ⛹️: Aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity on most or all days of the week. Regular exercise can lower triglycerides and boost "good" cholesterol ♥️ -

Cholesterol levels have long been the focus of heart health. Although you may know what your total cholesterol level is and be aware of the difference between bad cholesterol and good cholesterol, but, that’s not all. There's something else you might need to monitor: your triglyceride levels which is equally important. In fact, high triglycerides are as dangerous as bad cholesterol when it comes to your risk for heart disease. -
Let’s get a deeper insight about Triglycerides (TG) : Triglycerides are a type of fat (lipid) found in your blood. When you eat, your body converts any calories it doesn't need to use right away into triglycerides. The triglycerides are stored in your fat cells, released later, to give you energy between meals. However, if you eat more calories than you burn on a regular basis, particularly from high-carbohydrate foods, you may have high triglycerides. Because, the excess of carbs in our body are ultimately converted into fat and stored. That’s why I keep saying, anything in excess be it fat, protein, carbs or anything you consider ‘healthy’ is still bad !!! -
So, why are we at risk here? You may heard of people talking about how their arteries or artery walls have hardened or thickened, which is why they need a surgery/bypass/angioplasty to avoid strokes, heart attacks and other dreadful heart conditions. That my friends, has been caused my Mr High Triglycerides. You don’t want to be one of them, which is why you need to take steps to keep this villain under control. -
A simple blood test can tell you where you stand in terms of your TG levels. Optimally, your triglyceride level should be less than 150 mg/dL; borderline levels are up to 199 mg/dL, over 200 mg/dL is considered high, and over 500 mg/dL is very high. -
