Prisoners of War... We see this symbol on flags and license plates, and as a nation are moved to a heart of great honor toward that person, respect, and extended grace... Not only toward the persons who have experienced being a POW, but even the families who have suffered through the experience, and even perhaps still bear the burden of a missing or captive loved one. *The following statement is in no way discounting the unique and tragic circumstances of the above, but rather using that tangible reality to describe the non tangible*
Did you know every human has been a prisoner of war? And every human is either currently captive, and/or finally set free.... We live in a physical world that is actually a layer over the spiritual world... True life/the energy of existence is actually in the unseen, the untangible... Yet for a time, we walk this earthly journey, through shadows and by replicas of spiritual truths... of the eternal journey.
While in this world, we can sense the battle of the spiritual realm. Evil fights for victory, where sin entangles and strangles the soul, and captures the spirit into eternal bondage.
As a warrior for Christ, I know my struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spirits and energies and dark forces of evil. My weapons are not of the earth but of God. My goal is to tear down the strongholds that are keeping human spirits captive to sin, prisoners of lies, tangled in the overwhelming intoxication of poisonous tactics coming from the evil one.
Humans spirits are born into the enemy camp; the goal is to rescue these from bondage, into the Kingdom of Light... The Kingdom of God.
But we can never forget that every person who is set free, while on this Earth, will carry the marks and pains of once being a prisoner, and will have haunting memories and PTSD-like symptoms that could knock them off their feet in a second.
We need to have grace with one another. We need to view every human as a life worth saving, a life worth fighting for, and a life worth protecting with every ounce of effort we ourselves have been given to give.
