Is Green really the new Blue in Hackney? Scary... 😦 That particular colour reminded me first of the beautiful electrical rice field shades when arriving at Vang Vieng from Vientiane in Laos. Then I almost thought somebody poured a healthy macrobiotic green smoothie onto the canal as it covers up the river so thickly... That said I would not dare sipping that suspicious foam and still feel positive about this phenomenon.. What do you think that freaky carpet might be? How could we clean that water? As for beverage option let us play it safe and go back to the Hugo. Cheers! And thanks in advance for your suggestions. Peace .

Welcome to Away.
This is what happens when you buy something, use it once and throw it away. It ends up here. On the beaches and coastlines, the oceans and rivers of the world.

Left ecology vs ecology part 1. [Continued] Democracy is for short-sighted voters and corrupt politicians who only look forward to the next week, month, year or electoral cycle but give no thought to what’s going to happen 25, 50 or 100 years down the road.
Most people will never vote to seriously reduce their consumption and all successful, calculating democratic politicians realise that forcing this on voters would put their cushy political careers in jeopardy, so they are likely to pander to popular demand and ignore real ecological problems.
One big problem is that sound environmental health and protection requires very long-term planning because environmental threats are often decades or even centuries in the making. We cannot seriously address our ecological problems with a fickle, short-term, mass-egalitarian democratic system, as even some prominent left-wing radical ecologists such as James Lovelock and Paul Ehrlich understand. For the sake of our eco-system alone, democracy must be abolished and replaced with an eco-nationalist autocracy.
🤷🏻♀️ Guess the plant? 🤷🏻♀️
And how do you love to cook it?

- Can you believe this?! As it stands, animal agriculture takes up 1/5th of the land mass in the U.S. and if we intend on expanding this broken method of getting food to meet demands for 10 billion people by 2050, we will literally have to get another planet.
But what is allowing livestock to expand into land in the U.S. really doing to our landscape? According to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), 155 million acres of U.S. public land is used to graze livestock. A shocking analysis carried out in 2015 by the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) revealed that the use of public lands for this purpose has cost U.S. taxpayers $1 billion over the past decade.
The financial interests of cattle ranchers are prized above the maintenance of local ecosystems, which has led to the systematic destruction of any form of plant or animal life that may – in the ranchers’ eyes – threaten their livelihood. Native carnivorous animals such as wolves have long been targeted by government agencies. In 2013, for example, the state of Montana sold hunters 6,000 licenses to kill wolves. Each license permitted the hunter to kill five wolves – despite the fact that the entire wolf population of Montana numbered just over 600 individuals!
The government has enacted a similar policy with wild horses, who are commonly regarded by cattle ranchers as competing with their livestock for grassland on which to graze. Wild horse advocacy group American Wild Horse Preservation (AWHP) has found that the population of private livestock outnumbers the population of wild horses by a ratio of fifty to one. However, this has not stopped the BLM from rounding up wild horses in cruel helicopter-driven chases. These roundups have been condemned by animal protection groups across the country.
Is cheap meat and dairy worth this?
