I've been taking photos for years now and only now worked up the courage to share publicly. Perhaps because this photo contains messages I care deeply about. The environment and kids.
I snapped this little boy playing...covering up himself with the cool sand, by the stream in Toco. He was in his own little world.
Then I noticed the beer bottle in the sand above his head. Like an exclamation mark, screaming to be picked up. Left there by a selfish person who really doesn't give a damn about the environment. To say the least.
The editor in me wanted to erase the bottle. To make this picture perfect. But I left it.
I left it to highlight the nasty problem of littering in public spaces. Please respect public spaces as you would your own home.
Be mindful that kids are playing and could get hurt. Clean up after yourself.
One of our windmills catches the last of the evening sun. We are truly 'off the grid' here, with our electricity generated via windmills and solar panels. There is also no cell signal which sends some people into panic mode - but we love it! We invite our guests to listen to the birds, or the wind lifting the leaves in the trees, or spend some time throwing sticks for the ever grateful Clyde instead . . .#bethechange

Ok so I was brought here as part of a press trip - it’s billed as eco tourism. All the elephants are not brutally treated. They were ex trekking elephants where they had those awful seats strapped to them and take tourists into the mountains. DON’T DO THIS ELEPHANTS HAVE WEAK NECKS IT IS CRUELTY. This company doesn’t do that anymore and the thing is now to just feed them with specifically prepared meal, walk them to the mud, mud them up, then scrub them in the river. I 💯 had fun on this elephant leg of the day tour because who doesn’t love ellies but having seen them in the wild doing their thing and living their life in Zim, I’m really quite uncomfortable with domesticated elephant tourism. So just tossing the thought out - is there any way we can just observe them in the wild and get rid of this type of domesticated tourist entertainment in Asia?
PS. I’m not even an animal nut - @hypebae
readers know this best - I wrote a piece that started with how much I’m not down with cats but this issue really does make me squeamy and seeing them in pens makes me really sad.
