Hey guys, hope you all are having an awesome week. As we all know how hectic it is to balance work and personal life in this day and age, where both partners are working full-time. The last thing we want to worry about is to think about our grocery shopping. How do we do a grocery shopping that is healthy and budget friendly besides just knowing the standard healthy produce items? Here are my top five tips that I follow at every grocery shopping to make sure I pick items that are not only healthy, but saves me time and money and most importantly has more value over modern medicine. 1-Introduce an abundance of right foods into your health. We all know how our body reacts to certain foods more ham anyone else. Pick the foods that you know your body likes and handles well. 2- Pick fresh over boxed food because as we need to consume foods in its original and purest form which has a lot of fiber, vitamins and minerals and those that are not modified. For example: pick produce that is in season and is from your local farmers market. If you can plant your own fruits and vegetables that would be even better 👍🏻 3-Pick nutrient-dense foods also known as “superfoods” because those are the ones that actually play a major role in preventing the chronic diseases and keeping you hearty and healthy. For example: ginger, raw nuts and seeds, beans and lentils, honey, and turmeric. 4- don’t over buy the food items even if they are on sale, unless you are going to use it all right away. If you are thinking of freezing it, it will not taste the same because there is no life and energy left once you freeze it. You want to buy less, but buy fresh. Pick one fresh produce or a super food item and try it for a week and build your diet around these superfoods and see how you feel. Fresh food tastes amazing and is great for your health. 5-Plan your meals ahead of time that way you know exactly what you have to purchase when you go shopping. You go buy as much as you need and make it fresh. It not only saves you time and money, but it’s a great healthy eating habit.

I said I’d share my thoughts on this grain free granola by @naturespathorganic The flavour I got was vanilla poppy seed. Macros for 1 cup ➡️ 7 net carbs/28F/12P/7g of sugar. . . It’s sweetened with coconut sugar and it’s honestly worth that little bit of sugar. I would rather have real ingredients than something that is 0 carb/0 sugar but filled with chemicals. . . The taste is great 👍🏼 Next time I’ll have 1/2 a cup in some almond milk with a little bit of berries on top as a quick snack or light meal. Anyone on round two mid afternoon? Ok honestly I had about 1/4 c more this afternoon, not too much. But, I know there are many who drink coffee throughout the day! My grandpa who was a farmer in Nebraska, would drink coffee throughout the day! When I’d visit, I remember him coming in the house for a break and grabbing another cup! So let’s talk about coffee. I guess first off the most important question is are you consuming organic coffee ☕️ Did you know coffee crop are one of the crops most sprayed with pesticides. When you switch to organic you CAN taste the difference. So I would highly recommend organic, especially if your a daily drinker. Second thing is coffee in limited amounts can be a great fat burner as well as provide brain health and antioxidants, but what you put IN your coffee can totally ruin all of its health benefits. Adding tons of dairy creamers (also full of antibiotics) as well as fake chemical sugars like Splenda can add more harm than good to your body. Opt for dairy free creamers like coconut creamers, stevia for sweetness or organic honey. You’ll then at least be consuming healthier ingredients that you can use as fuel and not cause inflammation. Mix together 120g @ripplefoods Unsweetened Vanilla Pea Milk, 53g @kodiakcakes FlapJack Mix, Half a Scoop of @jayrobbdietguru Vanilla Egg White Protein, and you have a protein packed pancake mix. . . I like to place my bowl, on my scale, and weigh each ingredient, as I add it to the mixing bowl. Then, just whisk everything together and throw it on my griddle! . . My favorite pancake topper is the grass-fed @kerrygoldusa Pure Irish Butter, for a little boost of good fats. I use half a serving, about 7g, weighed on my scale. Pasture raised (100% grass-fed) beef chuck roast, roasted broccoli, baby potatoes, and @clekraut fermented beet kraut (probiotics and enzymes!).⁣ ⁣ For the roast I placed it in the crockpot and added a little coconut water (I don’t usually add liquid unless I’m planning on using/making something with the broth afterwards). Coconut water adds a touch of sweetness, plus it has electrolytes (lots of potassium!) which are necessary for optimal health. I then seasoned it with Himalayan pink salt, marjoram, and @Trader joes coconut aminos. Yummo! Dinner was great and now there are a nice amount of leftovers for several meals (salad toppers, to mix with eggs and veggies, stir fry, wraps, etc.). What’s your favorite thing to cook in your crockpot? My No Cook 3-bean salad is an excellent dish to have as a snack, side or to pack and take to work. This is my go-to potluck contribution and everyone loves it! It takes minutes to prepare and there is NO cooking involved! Prep Time: 15 minutes Cooking Time: 0 minutes Makes 4-6 servings Ingredients 1 can garbanzo beans, rinsed 1 can kidney beans, rinsed 1 can cannellini beans, rinsed 1 whole tomato, coarsely chopped 2 stalks celery, chopped ½ red onion, chopped ½ teaspoon red chili powder (optional, only if you prefer heat) 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro 2 cups baby spinach leaves Dressing 2 cloves minced garlic ½ cup balsamic vinegar 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil ¼ teaspoon salt, or to taste ¼ teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper, or to taste Directions In a medium bowl, mix together all ingredients except spinach and dressing ingredients. Add dressing ingredients to a separate small bowl and whisk together. Pour over beans and mix. Today’s lunch is definitely a little carb heavy but it’s coooold in Cleveland and potatoes are the ultimate comfort food. I roasted these for about 45 minutes last night at 400° and seasoned them with salt, paprika, coriander, cumin and sage. The black beans and quinoa were both cooked with a little salt and paprika, and the red peppers were roasted as is for about 10 minutes at 400°. Looking to add a little more greenery to alllll my meals this week, but this works for a 14° Tuesday that feels like a Monday.
