I’m so proud of this pasta i had to do a whole photo shoot 😂😍👍🏼 (please excuse my messy stove top lol🤦🏼♀️) spaghetti noodles, broccoli 🥦 , asparagus, red bell pepper, garlic, and cherry tomatoes 🍅 tossed in pesto, salt, pepper, and lots of lemon juice 🤤🍋 simple and oh so tasty😋
Wheatberry Sloppy Joes. We used @minimalistbaker
‘s recipe for vegan sloppy joes, but used wheatberries instead of lentils. I’ve had wheatberry sloppy joes before from @forksoverknives
and I really liked the texture of the wheatberries. Since we’ve had @minimalistbaker
‘s recipe before (and loved it) we wanted to see how it was with wheatberries. It was definitely a success! We served it on @costco
artisan rolls with a side of coleslaw from @itdoesnttastelikechicken
Yogis night out with lovely vegan food and a funky xmas tree 💫 I collapsed into foodkoma immediately when we came back... 😅 also it has already been 10 pm - so one our after our yogi / granny bedtime hour #yogacommunity #eattherainbow
Trying to get more veggies in my diet I was amazed by how good cooking some kale in a pan with a little olive oil and some raw basil pesto is 🌿 it’s bloody lovely! So I recreated it again with some red pepper and scrambled egg for breakfast 🍳 what a nutritional powerhouse. I’m learning so much about the microbiome 🦠 - I’m fascinated by it and am so aware that it holds the key to A LOT of health issues, including my own. So you can’t go wrong with upping your veggies (preferably organic if you can) to get more of that fab fibre to keep your gut and microbes happy 😊 #kale #eatmoreveggies #breakfast #ibs #fodmap #healthygut #guthealth #microbiome #fibre
It’s 5’clock somewhere 🍹❄️
But really, there’s a good chance you’re going to a holiday party sometime this weekend and will have the option to drink alcohol and/or eat something you didn’t cook. It could be a total “throw the towel in, it’s a holiday party” indulge fest, or you could follow my 8 simple tips for mindfully enjoying so you’ll still feel motivated to hit the gym tomorrow and drink your green smoothie:
1} Have a healthy snack before you go. This is my go to, always. Never show up starving! It’s a recipe for disaster 😝
2} Make your first (or only) drink water. If you’re imbibing, alternate between alcohol and water, 1 for 1
3} Scan the whole food area to see what you’re working with. Makes it much easier to make good choices
4} Go for the veggie tray (even if it’s kinda boring, you know it’s good fuel). Combine with a salad, lean proteins, and lighter dishes if available
5} Minimize any sugary drinks, mocktails or cocktails. Or stick to a simple vodka/soda water/lemon
6} Have a small amount (or bite) of dessert if you know it’s awesome. Savor it. I have a sweet tooth and love me some treats, but I do not waste my time/appetite on things that aren’t delicious!
7} Get back to your routine tomorrow. Even if you overindulged, tomorrow is always a fresh opportunity to take good care of yourself ☀️
8} Enjoy! It is the most wonderful time of the year after all 🎅🏼 🎄 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Cold and flu season is in full force and clinic has been busy! Parents often ask what they they can do to boost their kids' immune system and prevent illness.
There is no magic pill, of course, and most supplements studied have little to no benefit. There are some things you can do though. There is good evidence of benefit from a plant-based diet! High intake of fruits and veggies is associate with fewer viral illnesses.
The benefits of eating fruits and veggies are multifactorial: 1) they contain lots of antioxidants that help the body fight disease 2) plus many other immune-boosting phytochemicals and vitamins 3) and an anti-inflammatory ratio of omega 3:6 fatty acids and finally 4) they are the ideal food to support a healthy microbiome, which is a vital component to optimal immune function.
Other important lifestyle factors to staying healthy this winter:
☀️adequate Vit D
👍🏼good hand hygiene

If you know me you know I don’t know how to eat 😂 (I used to eat McDonald’s for lunch every day in undergrad 😩). So, thanks to a friend, I’m trying to go to the store, pick out a 5 or so veggies, and eat them as a salad without any going to waste. First picture is this week, other pics from last week.
Tonight we're eating Toasted seed and tahini slaw. Currently my top favourite #riverfordrecipe
Fabulously uses #carrots
which all feature in our #organicveg
boxes at this time of year.
4 tbsp mixed seeds (eg. sunflower, sesame, pumpkin, linseed)
4 tbsp plain yoghurt
1 garlic clove, crushed or grated
1 tbsp light tahini (sesame) paste
Juice of 1 lemon
½ Savoy cabbage, core & tough ribs removed, leaves very finely shredded
2 carrots, peeled & coarsely grated
1 small or ½ large onion (red or white), very finely sliced
Salt & pepper
Toast the mixed seeds in a dry frying pan for 1–2 minutes over a medium heat, until fragrant. Mix the yoghurt, garlic, tahini and lemon juice in a large bowl.
Add the cabbage, carrot, onion and toasted seeds, season and toss gently to combine.
Season to taste and add a good swirl of cream or crème fraîche if you fancy.
Celebrating my small wins this week by treating myself these super cute bracelets designed by @debiflue
...part of every journey are a bunch of small steps that add up to bigger, and bigger wins. But without those small steps, those big wins would of never been possible. Celebrate your small steps. Because while your taking those steps, someone else is still sitting on the sidelines thinking about it ❤!
Day 2 of 12 Days of Transformation!
Let's talk practicing self-love and self-care!
It's most important to understand that practicing these two things is not in anyway selfish. In fact, they have an immensely positive effect on your psyche and well-being.
Think about it this way -- practicing self-care is a great way to practice self-love. (You know how much we love efficiency at ITN!) Today you are going to begin by devoting time to self-care. It doesn't have to be hours; it can be something quick and simple.
Practicing yoga, meditating, journaling, reading, and taking a bubble bath are all ways to exercise self-care. Prioritizing sleep, eating nourishing foods, hobbies, movement, and spending time with loved ones are also great ways to practice self-care.
Next up, make a list of all the things you love about yourself and why.
By implementing a self-care/self-love routine daily, you'll start to break free of the cycle of running yourself ragged and filling up your cup last. Let's begin filling up your cup FIRST!

The little #greenweek
challenge has been a success. More veggies does keep you fuller longer and I've even cut a few pounds in the process.
I'm going to continue eating as much veggies as I can but I will never give up my grass fed meat! 😂

🌿 ZERO CAL FOOD 🌿
🇺🇸 Hi friends 🙂
Today I want to make some reminders. -
When you're eating healthy, 50% of your meal have to be veggies and fruits, choosing zero cal food is a great choice
With them you'll have your vitamins, minerals, fibers and you'll be easily full all that for almost zero calories (then you can have a Snickers for snack 😉)
Foods on this post are
1⃣ Low calories food
2⃣ plant based
3⃣ non processed food
4⃣ very nutritious
5⃣ fibrous and
6⃣ you need to chew few minutes before
7⃣ digest them for at least 1-2 hours
All that points and the fact that breathing is enough to burn the cal they contain make them zero calories food
Grill them, steam them or make sticks and eat them raw with a yogurt salad sauce 😋 [ yogurt, mustard, lemon, chive and pepper, you don't need to put salt ] JUST #eatyourveggies
🚫 IMPORTANT If you're dieting don't only eat them for the whole day, those food don't give you enough macro nutrient (proteins, carbs, fat)
I hope this helps
👥 Tag and share if you enjoyed this post !!!
Nice day to you 😊

Lunches are almost never pretty for me. They usually consist of some form of dinner leftovers or a big bowl of things like this thrown together to make a salad. Although it’s a bit of a hodge podge, this salad is packed with everything good in this world and keeps me fueled all afternoon. I change it up from day to day, but on this day my bowl is full of salad greens, canned salmon, carrots, tomatoes, grapes, raspberries, roasted pepitas, hemp seeds, and my favorite homemade balsamic vinaigrette!
For the vinaigrette:
- equal parts olive oil and any vinegar (this has balsamic but I’ve done it with apple cider, white wine, red wine, etc)
- A quick squeeze of Dijon mustard - A more generous squeeze of honey - A little salt
- A lotttt of black pepper - Put it all in a sealable bottle and shake it up!
