Squat Technique . As promised, here's a few things to help with your squat technique if you're having difficulty properly balancing glute, core, and quad activation. . If you find yourself leaning too far forward when squatting, start with a goblet squat. Place a 10-20lb dumbbell against your chest with one end of the dumbbell on top of your sternum/collar bone area AND the other end of the dumbbell on the bottom half of your sternum. Both ends of the dumbbell should maintain contact with your body the entire time. If the bottom half is coming off then you're leaning too far forward. If so, practice squatting by performing sumo deadlifts with a kettlebell. ⬇️ . Even though it's technically called a deadlift, a kettlebell sumo deadlift will help you properly activate all the right muscle groups when squatting. As you can see from the video, I could definitely benefit spending more time doing these. . A wonderful #Saturday to all the #gymshark and #motivated people out there looking to get in shape no matter what. I know I had slowly started getting back into it this week, but as of today, back go my regular #training routine. The extended slow come back due to my #injury did take its toll as I didn't feel my best pushing through this #workout , but I am rejuvenated and super excited to be hitting the #gym hard again. (Eng/Esp) At 37 years old, floor dumbbell presses is one of my favorite chest exercises for hypertrophy. I even prefer them vs the barbell floor version. Why? -You get more shoulder and lumbar spine stability thus protecting the joints and lower back while allowing you to handle more weight. -Shorter range of motion in the eccentric phase (bottom) which allows for more reps. -Greater range of motion in the concentric phase (top) where it matters. -Gives your mayor pectorals a BRUTAL pump. I recommend you train them in a HIT manner as your first or second chest exercise with: 1 light warm up x 20 reps 1 medium warm up set x 10 reps 1 working set (the one that matters) to failure. Challenge yourself but keep in control. Here’s my working set with 65 lbs DBs for 22 reps. A mis 37 años el press con mancuernas en el piso es uno de mis ejercicios favoritos para hipertrofia. I don't know if I over trained this week or if I'm just old but I woke up today and couldn't lift my leg. My hip flexor is killing me. Spent an hour this morning stretching. Decided to go in and do mobility but when I saw @josh_faber benching I jumped in. I'll be sore tomorrow but it was a good chest/triceps day. Spent some more time after doing mobility. Here’s one of the moves I like to incorporate into my workouts to switch things up, get my ♥️ pumping, and my full body engaged. . . This is a Figure 8. Start with your legs slightly wider than hip width apart. . . Place one dumbbell in your right hand. . . Pass the weight to your left hand in front of your left leg. . . Bring the weight around to the back of your left leg and pass off to your right hand in front of your right leg. . . Lift the weight up to the sky and step back into a high lunge with your right leg. . . Repeat. Then switch sides. 😉 8reps a side is a great start. Also, feel free to start with 1lb weights to get the movement down first before you add heavier weights. Remember always, always, always proper form first. 😉💪🏽 . . 📍Traps are a fast twitch muscles, they can take big loads but get tired faster. Generally, to maintain their size, you don’t need direct trap work; performing heavy compound pulling exercises will do the work, same thing for minimum effective volume, pulling movement like rows and deadlifts, and shoulder exercises are efficient.📍 As for maximum volume growth, 12 to 20 sets weekly is good for traps development.
