While we wait for Meghan’s first few patronages to be announced, let’s look back on the Duke and Duchess’s visit to Dogpatch Labs.
is a startup hub that creates space for other startup companies to develop, grow, and network. It is located in Dublin’s tech and financial district, also known as the “Digital Docklands”. The city of Dublin has grown into a center for emerging commerce, business and technology. New infrastructure and job opportunities has prompted more young people to migrate to Dublin.
During the Duke and Duchess’s time at Dogpatch Labs, they celebrated the seventh anniversary of @coderdojo.
CoderDojo is a movement of free computer programming opportunities for young people led by volunteers. The focus of their visit was to see and meet the innovative individuals doing their part to shape Ireland’s future.
Ann O’Dea, Silicon Republic’s CEO and a guest at Dogpatch Labs that day stated that, “The Duchess of Sussex has long been interested in encouraging young women into the STEM sectors, so her engagement in the discussion was palpable. Before our round table, the couple met some of the mentors from CoderDojo, and they were visibly impressed by the calibre of our young people...” STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, and math. To me, it is quite obvious that one of Meghan’s first patronages will be about encouraging young women to step into the world of science and technology. I cannot wait for that announcement!
I have also put Meghan’s outfit details on the last slide.
