April 10,2016:On The evening of day one of their royal tour, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were hosted at a charity dinner with a feast of Indian entertainment full of singers and dancers.
Kate dazzled in a beaded cobalt blue gown after sticking with one of her favourite designers, Jenny Packham, but the outfit was especially beaded in India in honour of their royal tour of the country. It was completed by an exquisite matching cape, which she draped over her shoulders, and bold drop earrings, from luxury Indian jewellers Amrapali.
The bodice was embroidered with ornate silver beading matched with a full gathered skirt which trailed along the floor. The Duchess wore her hair in a French-style twist and carried a matching navy clutch while William looked dapper in a black tuxedo, white dress shirt and bow tie.
More than 200 of India's top film, sport and business figures attended. Among the Bollywood stars present were Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, India's answer to Angelina Jolie Aishwarya Rai, Rishi Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar.
Before the couple arrived British High Commissioner Sir Dominic Asquith gave the stars a health warning about not 'besieging' the royal couple. 'I'm told you're a rowdy bunch!' he said. 'We need to make sure they enjoy the experience as they want to meet you all. I say that in the hope you will be very kind to us and stay in your groups around the tables instead of coming, quite understandably, and besieging them. 'We will bring them to you.' Kate and William spent an hour chatting to guests at the reception.
