Struggling to Exercise?
We all know that we need to exercise. It is good for pretty much everything; our minds, moods, organs, muscles, bones – everything to do with our bodies. So, why do some of us still struggle with regular exercise?
Several reasons come up including lack of time, getting bored of the same exercise routine, weather limitations or just plain laziness.
So, how can we overcome these hurdles to keep exercise interesting and a part of our daily life?
1- Decide on how many times a week realistically you will exercise.
2- Set the same time for your exercise – it becomes a pillar around which you set the rest of your schedule.
3- Get an exercise partner – that will always encourage you not to cancel.
4- Mix it up – Try to vary the exercises to keep away the boredom; swimming and walking, gym and swimming, cycling and yoga.
5- Exercise for however long you can; if you can’t do the standard hour, do 20 or 30 minutes. Anything counts.
6- Download an exercise app – if you are on a budget, there are lots of free apps you can download to get some exercise done at home with no need for any equipment.
7- Use the facilities around you – If you have a tennis court, swimming pool, gym, cycling track, walking track around you, take advantage of it.
What, when, where and how long does not matter, as long as you get some exercise in. It’s great for your body, but equally important, it will elevate your mood, increase your focus and you get a great night’s sleep!
