10 whole years this month that are between the red sweater photo and these others.
I was 29 years old, and 3 weeks before that photo was taken was the day my ex broke into our home. My sweater hid bruises of the fingerprints that stained my neck but nothing could hide my brokenness.
The following year I made a choice that drastically changed my life. And it had nothing to do with losing weight.
I made a choice to fight through the hardest thing I ever stood up against and faced.
Obesity isn’t about food. You’re not some “lazy fat ass without self control or will power”. Nor is your worth defined by your size.
And that’s why the choice I made that changed my life wasn’t anything to do with losing weight. My real battle I fought was learning HOW to fight. How to not quit on myself. I made a choice to not quit when everything was going wrong, when life was harder than it had ever seemed; I made a choice to fight longer every time I wanted to give up.
Because what might change if you didn’t quit on yourself today?
What might happen if you fight for the results that hard work require?
What might happen if instead of starting over tomorrow you quit tomorrow.
Fight hard. When you make the choice to not quit, I promise your life will change. And for some of you beautiful people it will change in ways you never even knew existed except in your wildest dreams. 💥

I was meant to do difficult things. I was meant to step out of “average” and do things that many won’t do. I was meant to challenge myself. I was meant to do shit that scares me. I was meant to do all of it to show you guys it can be done.
There are no excuses to live an average life (unless that’s what you want).
I think...EFFFFF average. Screw normal. “Normal” is for people who care too much about the opinion of others.
I’ve always been drawn to do things that are not “mainstream”. In high school, all of my friends were cheerleaders. While they were at cheer practice, I took karate and Tae Kwon do and lifted weights with my Dad. 😂
I’m drawn to do stuff that scares me but I know will help me grow. Especially if not a lot of people do it. I was attracted to compete in bodybuilding years ago because it was not popular. Now it is. But hell, I still want to do it because it’s difficult.
Difficult is kinda my thing.

, before her first high school tryouts. We put in a lot of work with the heavy basketballs because we really wanted to focus on her ball handling before her tryouts. Had my post surgery appointment today, they yanked the tape off 😳 that's why it looks so angry. But that's it, that little line. Crazy to think what all they did with just that small incision.
Now I'm allowed to go back to work Sunday, can lift up to 25lbs 💪🏻and can use the bike or elliptical.
Sadly was reminded again some of these symptoms could be permanent, all depends how the nerves react.
This is the shooting range that the sheriffs use frequently, their machine gun sounds pierce the otherwise still night on the trails.
Today, we chose to forego the trails and run hill repeats on the extremely hilly road next to this range, all the while hoping for a cute cop to show up 😂

A soul you’ll never forget 🦋
It’s not a perfect side by side, BUT, these are 3 months apart, almost to the day. I’m really dang proud of the work I’ve put in since the beginning of September. I set a goal for myself, & this time I’ve stayed ridiculously dedicated to it (so much so that I was forced to take a break when I was wearing my body too thin & couldn’t get over a cold...ugh). I don’t like weighing myself because I know myself well enough to know I hyper focus on the numbers & eventually starve myself if I do...but I love seeing the visual difference. I’ll take the pictures. I’m going to do some measurements when I hit the exact 2 month out from the race date. I’ll probably weigh again then to see what potential changes have happened since last time. What I’m most excited about is that 1) I can run 2 miles at a time without feeling terrible (my goal is 4, & I’ll get there) 2) I’ve stuck with something on a consistent basis for longer than I’ve done before 3) I’m losing some of the stubborn fat because my metabolism is ramped up & 4) I am OFFICIALLY between a size 10-12 in pants (30-31)!!!! I’ve not been that low in YEARS. Like...beginning of college.
