Officially ONE WEEK UNTIL CHRISTMAS!! 😳🙌🏼🎄😃 In case my emojis didn’t appropriately convey it, I have mixed feelings. 😅 As I approach the end of my twenties and the end of the year, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting on the path I’ve taken to get here and the path going forward, my successes and my failures, what’s important to me, what I’m thankful for, and what I want for the future. I don’t quite have it ALL worked out yet (really, does anyone though?) but there are a few things I know: .
1) I am grateful for this community that has grown around, and the people I’ve connected with as a result of, Heels & Valleys. I know I say this a lot, but y’all really are the best.
Admittedly, there have been times when I got too caught up in the engagement metrics and the comparison game, and I would want to pull my hair out because of y’all (no offense😉😅), but then one of you would send me a DM, leave a sweet comment, respond to an IG story, share something personal, or tell me in person how much you enjoy my blog and I’d immediately be reminded of what this is all about and would be pulled out of my funk. As IG’s algorithm changes in the next year, I know it will increasingly difficult to avoid getting sucked into those traps and that’s something I need to stay aware of.
2) Most (all?) of the most rewarding experiences came as a result of taking a risk and/or being vulnerable. When fear tries to push me back into the dark, I’ll need to remember that to have the courage to step into the light.
3) Some of the times I’ve felt best about myself were when I was giving back or doing something “good” for society or our planet. In the future, I should do more of it... starting now!! 😁
Which is why I just published a blog post on Consumerism that Cares that acts as a supplement to this Gifts that Give Back Gift Guide. It’s far from complete, and I’ll be updating it as I learn about more opportunities to practice caring consumerism, but it’s a good start!
