Just finished the cutest little jeans and t shirt:) Jeans are vintage (1977) Simplicity 8281 & the top is a free t shirt pattern from Liberty Jane. I did a fair bit of hand-sewing on the top and it was very satisfying. I usually avoid hand-sewing but these clothes are so small that it doesn't take very long at all. The snaps I used for the jeans are probably vintage too, lol. Next up is a project for me, but I think I'd like to sew more Barbie clothes this year. They're just so cute!!! 😍#diybarbieclothes#slowsewing#diydollclothes#pixiefaire
This is Joanna. The first in our Pets of YouTube series of dolls. We're keeping the identity of the YouTuber hush hush for the moment, but if you can guess, there might be a prize in it.
Meanwhile... Joanna IRL is an Argus Monitor lizard, named after the same lizard in Disney's Rescuers Down Under (if you haven't seen it, it's very good and an underrated gem). Sarah has her look down, but what kind of outfit should we put her in?
Putting her in something cute would be... just wrong. The character is, after all, a villain in the movie. The actual pet is rather feisty, has a sassy personality, and can be rather aggressive at times. So, seeing this characterization in a cute, pastel, frilly outfit would be wrong. If Sarah had gone with an expression that was grumpy and pissed off, I could see the irony of the cute outfit. Kind of like that kid wearing that outfit gramma got, at least once for photos.
I was thinking about putting her in a stylized version of McLeach's outfit from the movie, but once again... to plain and no where near expressing her character IRL or from the movie. So, I'm asking for help. What do you think?
I missed the delivery for my doll’s clothes on Saturday, so I tried my hand at making something myself. I’m happy with the fit, but I see now I need to construct the pieces in a different order. It’s nowhere near the level of detail I’m aiming for, but it’s not a bad start!
