Fun Fact: Did you know that Disneyland's King Arthur Carousel is older than the park itself. It was built in 1922 for the Sunnyside Beach Park in Toronto until the park closed. The ride was relocated to California in 1954, where it was refurbished/modified then opened @Disneyland
on July 17, 1955
2 Fun Facts!
The Enchanted Tiki Room was Disneyland's first fully air conditioned building. While giving park guests a break from the California heat was an added bonus, the real reason for keeping the building cool was to ensure that the computers that kept the show running didn't overheat.
Also, The Enchanted Tiki Room was originally going to be a dinner show, where guests would be entertained by the animatronic birds as they ate. However it never worked out due to complications with timing of the show.
Too bad, this would be even better as a dinner show.😁
The next time you are planning on spending a day at @disneyland
, set the alarm...for 4:45 a.m. Or earlier. ⏰
If you have never been in either Park when the rope drops (at the entrances to Adventureland, Tomorrowland, etc.) and the day officially begins, you will 1) be amazed at how cool that moment is, and 2) be amazed at how much easier it is to hop on attractions in that first hour vs. later in the day. 🙌
We decided to pop into Disneyland Park for a few minutes on Saturday morning before LEGO Club in Downtown Disney, and we were in line at the gate by about 7:15. The official opening time/ rope drop was 8 a.m., and they started letting us in the gate around 7:40. 😋
A tip: If you are not staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel and taking advantage of Extra Magic Hour (where hotel guests get to go into one of the Parks an hour before it officially opens), start your day in the Park that is NOT open early to hotel guests. There will be less of a crowd! The Disneyland App will show you park hours and which park is hosting Extra Magic Hour on which days.
My son was like 😃 to be the very first rider of the day on Pirates of the Caribbean, and we were both like 😃😃 to see Pirate Redd; she was formerly one of the women being auctioned off and is now an AWESOME pirate. ⚔️ 💀 (The pic of her I took is not great but gives you an idea of what she looks like). Then...it was on to Jungle Cruise before heading out of the Park. Skipper: “Is this anyone’s first time on the Jungle Cruise?” *One child’s hand goes up* Skipper: “Cool! Mine, too!” 😂
Is there a Disneyland attraction that YOU always go on first?
I bet I can guess one of your favorite Disneyland snacks. Is it the popcorn?
For 63 years popcorn has been a beloved snacking staple of the park since opening day in 1955. Walt Disney himself enjoyed piping hot popcorn on Main Street and today Disneyland guests enjoy more than 185,000 pounds of this salty treat every year.
It's hands down my go to snack....but who really can resist the smell of fresh hot popcorn? Not me😊 -For vintage Disneyland collectibles click link in bio-
Added this piece to my collection thanks to a great friend! Jim Shore isn't my favorite, but I love this figurine in honor of the 60th anniversary of the Alice in Wonderland attraction at #Disneyland
Check out one of my favorite Subtle Details on the balcony above Pirates of the Caribbean. The initials W.D. and R.D. can be found. A tribute to Walt and his brother, Roy.
Today in 1969 is when the Haunted Mansion opened! 👻
Anyone else feel like these horses due to the heat? 😝 Stay cool and hydrated, all! 💦
, Guardians-style, all! Reach for the sky today! 😄🧡
The Columbia made its first voyage on June 14, 1958. Passengers board the ship where they are greeted by the Captain and once the Columbia is ready to set sail, passengers go through the wilderness of the Rivers of America. While on board, guests can go below deck and experience firsthand how pioneers lived during their long voyages. I recently found out that you can view artifacts in the onboard maritime museum. **I'm embarrassed to admit this but I've only been on the ship once....when I was a kid. 😕
