Today was a deload session, in which I did a lot of foam rolling & stretching, as well as experimenting with different squat stances. I used to hate deload sessions but now I love them. - After filming 8 sets with different stances & in heels/flats I think I finally found my ideal squat stance. I felt like I could fully utilise my leg strength, while maintaining a good bar path & not tipping forwards. When the deload is over and you can get back to normal training (and caffeine) 🎉 - I’ve posted before on why and how you may consider a deload from training intensity and volume. In the last week, it was certainly the case for me with the amount of travel, increased work stress, and reduced sleep quality 😓 - This was an opportunity for me to reduce the stress that training has on my body while also desensitising to caffeine (white monster on training days again 🤭) - Most general population trainees will naturally deload based on weeks when they can get into the gym less often or are more pushed for time to train. This means, in my opinion, that the majority of trainees don’t require a scheduled deload because “life happens”. It’s only for a small number of serious trainees that require planning in terms of when to have their deload. Why do we need to recover? So we don’t overtrain, create injuries, or slow down our progress. With whatever kind of training you are doing especially starting out you are going to get so unimaginably sore! Especially after those dreaded leg days. Recovery is so important so you can be ready for your next workout but also to grow and repair your muscles. Majority of your growth occurs when you are sleeping hence why sleep is so important. Sleeping more is going to cut down your recovery time and is going to give you much better workouts. Taking rest days is also important. We do not need to train every day to reach our goals. It is going to depend on the type of workouts you are doing and their effect on your body. As soon as you start feeling fatigued all the time or on the verge of injury you will know you are not recovering enough and or need a deload. Another sign of needed recovery is not being as strong as you usually are. Whether you need to skip a day of training because you couldn’t get through your warm weights or you need a deload. A deload is usually a week of training using weight around 60% of your usual weight. You can also do a deload using your regular weights but do half the sets or reps. What I have learned is that it is never worth it to train when feeling injured or when you are unsure if you can handle a workout that should be easier. It always best to play it safe and recover then get an injury and be without training for months on end. #recovery #lifestyle #training #deload #overtraining #fitness

Whelp.... it’s the last week of #Uplift program with @megsquats from #bodybuildingcom #allacess . It’s my favorite program so far and I’ve made some major strength growth in the last weeks. My squat top set started at 90lbs are now 155lbs. My deadlift top set started at 105lb are now at 155lbs as well. My bench press top set, which I’ve been struggling to grow in, started at 75lb and finished with 95lb. This week is just a #deload which will help me smoothly transition into my next program next week. # 🔸Why? Well, sometimes a day or two off a week isn’t enough to fully recover. Especially if we are being aggressive with our progression during a training block, we should find after 4-6 weeks that progression is becoming difficult and often we will start to feel run down and tired in and outside of the gym . 🔸How? For the first half of the week I plan to aim for the same weight as week 1 of the block I’m deloading from but half of the reps I did back then, and only 1 or 2 sets per exercise. For the second half of the week I halve the weight as well. This really isn’t very exciting, but by the end of the week the excitement for training has usually returned and I’ll feel fresh and ready to go . 🔸This is not a week to let your diet go, keep on track with your diet and focus on getting enough sleep while keeping your stresses as low as your lifestyle allows. We want to feel refreshed by the end of the week but you won’t do if you let these other things go off track . 🔸A lot of people get addicted to the feeling of training, a very low volume week where you don’t push yourself and you focus on recovery is completely alien to 99% of people you see in the weights room. But don’t see it as a week wasted . 🔸Since I’ve been taking regular deloads the overall productivity of my training is through the roof. It’s one step back in order to take several forward in the long run 💪🏻

Initially we will try some positional exercises (extension and flexion shown) with deep breathing to relax to help calm things down. Then we can move into pelvic and back movement in varying positions to alter fragility belief. From there we can work on trunk isometrics, Glute work, and hinge patterning for strengthening further. Read below 👇 Ahh deload week.. The shittiest and longest week of your program. As much as we despise it, deloads are the one of the most important factors to proper muscle recovery and overall strength improvement. - Without deloads, we run the risk of overtraining our bodies. Going to the gym 4-6x a week can definitely take a toll on us and unless you are half-human half machine, you need to deload. - 🤔So how often should you deload? - I personally will deload one week a month. However everyone is different. Depending on your program or depending on how often you lift, you may require deloads sooner OR later than others. A good way to tell if you need a deload is when you start to see a slow down or "plateau" in your progress. - Another indication is frequency of injuries. If you're getting hurt a lot in the gym, chances are you're overtraining and need to properly recover. - 🤔How do you deload? - Typically on deloads you should cut the current weight of your lifts by 40-60%. So if you’re squatting 300 lbs for 8 reps, your deload weight would be around 120- 180 lbs. You can even decrease the volume of your workouts, so instead of having 5 set of 8 you can cut it down to 3 set of 8. Going heavy in the gym on a deload not only defeats the purpose of it but also increases your chances of getting injured. Drop the ego and look to gain for the long term. - Remember, deload week is super important for any training program and should be incorporated at proper intervals. As much as they suck you do need them. תקופת החגים זה זמן טוב לחזור או להתנסות בתוכנית full body . הסיבה הראשונה היא הקושי להתמיד בהגעה לחדר הכושר. שעות הפעילות מתקצרות וחלק מהימים סגור. מה שמקשה על התמדה בתוכנית מפוצלת. ככה אנחנו מבטיחים לעצמנו שנגיע 2-3 פעמים וניתן גירוי לכל הגוף כדי לשמר. איך תוכנית fullbody נראית? בוחרים בעיקר תרגילים מורכבים שיעבדו יחד על כמה קבוצות שרירים במקביל. דחיפה,משיכה,רגליים ובטן. ——— אפשרות אחרת לזמן החגים היא לבצע הורדת עומסים או אם שמעתם על המילה delod. לרוב זה מתבצע לשבוע אחד בו יש לנו שני אפשרויות: הורדת משקלי העבודה שלנו בחצי. אופציה שניה היא להוריד נפח באימוו ולחתוך בחצי את כמות התרגילים. היתרון של זה הוא לאפשר התאוששות מערכת עיצבית, מנוחה למפרקים גידים וכו. זה כלי חשוב מאוד כדי למנוע פציעות עתידיות. ———— סיימו עם החודש של החגים ותחליטו אם להמשיך בתוכנית שעובדת לכם או להחליף תוכנית ולתת גירוי חדש לשרירים. המשך חג שמח 🙏🏼. ————————— #addicted #workouttips #deload #fitnessgoals #streching #holidayworkout

Hart zu trainieren bedeutet für mich nicht sich im #gym komplett kaputt zu machen, herumzuschreien oder Gewichte hin und her zu werfen ☝️ Viel mehr geht es für mich darum konsequent und vor allem #smart das zu tun, was getan werden muss. Auf seinen Körper zu hören und ihm das zu geben was er braucht, oder ihn nur der Belastung aussetzen die er vertragen kann. Wie zum Beispiel in einem #deload wenn man eigentlich Lust hätte mehr Gas zu geben, sich selbst bremsen zu können und das große Ganze zu sehen. Das ist meiner Meinung nach das „harte“ am Training. Dazu gehört auch die Ernährung! Nicht nur in der Diät auf die Kalorien zu schauen, sondern auch in einem Überschuss ordentlich essen und sich nicht komplett gehen lassen. Aber auch akzeptieren zu können, wenn über diese Zeit die Form ein wenig leiden muss. . Das bedeutet für mich hartes Training! #alwaysbethehardestworkerintheroom . Was sagt ihr dazu? . . Then I hit my deadlift opener of 462/210kg which didn’t feel as quick as I was hoping. This has been the longest preparation in the world with 5 months of strongman preparation and now one month of powerlifting. My body needs a break so this deload can’t come quick enough.
