Should DeAndre Ayton have been the #1 pick? Ayton is averaging about 15.8 PPG & 10 RPG, but what does he really do on the court? He’s a 7 footer who takes a lot of fadeaways, he doesn’t shoot 3’s, and he is no where near the rim protector that his tools suggest. Ayton is just a bad defender. At this stage it doesn’t seem like Ayton impacts the game as much as the other rookies in his class
So why did he go No. 1 when 2 guys were better? Was it because of fit? I don’t think so because Doncic and Jackson are even better fits than Ayton.
