Here's the last physics lesson I plan on giving you guys...for now 😬
In today's lesson, we're going to discuss how load placement and body position can help you target different musculature/body parts 🤘🏻
The Rear Foot Elevated Split Squat (aka Bulgarian Split Squat) is a great overall leg builder, but you can change load and body position to place more emphasis on either the quads or the posterior chain 🏋️♂️
During an exercise, the farther away you keep a weight from a working joint, the harder that joint has to work (because the external moment arm is larger, making the weight produce more torque at that joint) 🤓
Therefore, if you keep the load farther away from the knee, the quads have to work harder. Conversely, if you keep the load farther away from the hips, the posterior chain has to work harder
The first few reps utilize an upright torso position with the load relatively farther from the knee = more quads 💪🏼
The last few reps utilize an inclined torso position with the load farther from the hips than the knee = more posterior chain 🙌🏻
You can use this knowledge to make the exercise fit your specific needs!
