White and black, brown and light, yin and yang! The kind of standards that our society lives up to these days, "You are pretty I mean don't get me wrong, you are attractive." When in reality what she means is "You know how to dress up but you will always look bland." Your makeup is on point however don't bother, you are cute but you can never be the conventional sort of prettiness because oh well you are chocolate brown, black, dark , dusky, you name it! Sometimes seeing the kind of struggle a dark skin individual and I will not even say woman, acquires on day to day basis, we feel if not some monumental satisfaction but a minute essence of relief that atleast we are not dark, acne perhaps, darks circles but remotely happy that I am garnier light. Have you ever stopped and wonder why this idea has polluted or rooted inside our brains, call it gora complex! Sometimes when we would refer a very white skinned baby in our family we will mention he looks like a ditto "angrez", blue eyes or green eyes would attract us to a level that no matter if he talks trash but look at his crystal gaze man! This complex is not a product of pretty and wanting to be pretty, its merely acceptance, subconscious acceptance, idealizing the prospect of clean streets, short clothes, freedom and accent. However we forget that looking like them won't solve our problems. If they would have been some barbarians running around in forests and living in caves our standards would have reversed along the degree of 180. So this is an address towards all the aunties in the world who are looking for gori bahus, all the ladies looking for blue eyed hunks, all the beautiful dark ladies out there who gets demoralized and depressed because of their skin color, make yourself capable, worthy and a good human being, take it as freedom not color, take it as strength not shade, take it as your individuality not as complexion! Don't try to do anything to get your skin a shade lighter, a bit whiter. You're beautiful.
