I'm entering the @vitaminwater @vitaminwaterofficial
contest to go a full year (yep, that's 365 days people!) without a smartphone or tablet!
To be honest, 2018 was really difficult for me. The past few years I've sunk into anxiety and depression... But 2018 is where it hit bottom.
I am apparently very talented at burying difficult emotions and numbing my depression with emotional eating, binge watching Netflix, endless exhaustion, and mindless scrolling of social media.
After a few key realizations... I determined that something has to change. And that something is ME. My habits. My thought patterns. MY LIFE.
So here I am. Doing something crazy! And I couldn't be more excited about it. #dancingunicorn #mykidiscute
In addition to not using a smartphone, I am also committing to not using Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest or watching Netflix for 365 days. This is because the contest rules state I can still use a laptop... and I know myself well enough to see that I would replace my phone scrolling with laptop scrolling. I am determined to be more present. (PS- we already don't own a TV, but I reserve the right to watch The Bachelor, Stranger Things, etc. at a friend's house). Instead, I will do things such as: learn to macrame, practice the piano and ukulele, learn to bake bread (I've always wanted to do that!), spend more time outside, read and study interesting topics, homeschool my kids, go on date nights with my hubby, meditate, practice paddle-board yoga, blog, train myself to sleep on my back, volunteer in our community, and PLAY.
But most importantly, I will feel the feels. I will honor the feels. And I will work through the feels. Especially the hard ones.
